Definitely a step above SOCOM 1 |

SOCOM 2 is definitely better than the first SOCOM in many ways. First and foremost, there's more realism. I hated when you were shot in some weird place like the foot and you get killed instantly. This time, the game focuses on headshots to actually give the game a little sense. And also, the bullets are different. If you shot some guy in the arm with a silenced 9mm, it would take like nine shots. But if you use something like a .45 or a .50, it would take around three or four. Second, cheaters are gooooooooooooooooooooooone! HALL. LE. LU. JAH. Those stupid glitchers and GS/AR cheap cheaters were annoying. The glitch where you climb up the ladder, go down, do something so you can sink underground and shoot everyone was cheap. I heard it had something to do with some code that Sony changes every week or so that prevents cheaters. Also, online mode has more things to do. New maps, objectives for maps, two new modes, air strikes, skins (as in new characters for multiplayer, like Goldeneye and World is Not Enough for N64) that you unlock in single player for online, and such make online mode better than SOCOM 1. Even the graphics and sound seem better, and you can unlock songs in single player to listen to.
There's also more weapons. Shotguns (WHOOP-FRIGGITY-DE-FRIGGITY-DO!!), rocket launchers (YAY!), more assault rifles including bullpup rifles (YAY!), two new handguns, a new sniper rifle, a new submachine gun, and other nice goodies like proximity mines, a thermal scope, amongst other things.
All in all, I think Zipper did a great job.

This game is great...i love to play with fellow players all over the world...if u wanna play...MEssage me at LostSkater666...this game is awesome...the best shooting game...and for the ppl who say it suck...they just dont have skill to play a good game..they can only play the barbie horse adventures...so if u need to email me and get on something my email is..RRedick< remove me > at aol.com...well g2g...this is a GREAT game...Later Everyone...and remember to play this game and get commander!...luck to everyone who plays

What happened? I was expecting a lot more from socom 2. I was expecting more stealth abilities; such as moving silently under water and suprisingthe enamies with a stealth kill..or both members of a team taking down an enamy at the same time in stealth mode..There should have been more attacts than just the knife and butstroke. Also Navy Seals usually operate in even and eary am hours and carry three weapons: 1 side arm (pistal)-a riffel and a sub machine gun for close quarters attacts. Zipper should have done more research.
Graphics aren't all that great. WISH there had been an XBOX version WTF not?????? I would have much rather if they had remade socom 1 with smarter AI. the only improvement in the game is the teams intelligents. Socom 1 has better missions.

Ok, first offi think the game is great and a whole lot more realistic thatn the first one, plus the new additions to the older maps is just makin it a little harder so you have to have some idea of what your doing, or if your a noob and suck, then that's the point where you'll just walk around aimlessly until you do find an opponent. how the gun reciols now also makes it alot more realistic, which shows who can really shoot a gun, since most people (like =stalker=) cant handle the recoil, it just makes it more fun for me. The new maps are prettty good, and i kinda like how they added some new guns (noob cannons).the only thing i found a little funny is the scoring system, but i guess it makes it so you have to do more than just shoot people and get the most kills.

the cheaters and glitchers end up being admirals, peple jump out of walls and shoot you, even the new patch i just played has even newer glitches!!!!!!!! i highly suggest u dont buy the ****** game. unless u want 2 play single player mode you can do all the glitches you want. the graphics r kinda goood but dont play it,the sound is cool,the gamplay online or anywhere else youll die if u get shot in the head or leg once, ur lifespan is about 50%,the fun of the game suks because you die so kwikly,its very original now since all those stupid idiots ubsessed with killing and want 2 b their dead dad that fought in a war they didint no about,the value of the game would be about $3.00 if the people didnt jump the thing up cause it looks cool. so just do buy the game. youd probably want 2 play madden 2005 online thats better!

Well, I'm not suprised that you like the game knives.I bet if it wasn't for this stupid recoil affect you would have died many times.And the fact that you enjoy the new noobie cannons also proves that you are most likely a noob.The new grenade launcher and missle launchers are also ridiculous to have online also, because they only give noobs a way to get kills without any effort.I bet you like using those things too knives.And I also have to say that the rank is screwed up.But I don't care about rank anymore.It's a game and it's supposed to be fun.And I have mostly enjoyed playing respawn games.

The online version is very nice but to anyone that's buying this for the online version save your money.
Offline: Maybe they're just server issues but there is a ridiculous amount of lag in the game. The health meter is a nice touch but unrealistic. Example; when was the last time you witnessed someone taking half a clip at point blank range with the M-4A1 to only shoot you back. Shotgun blast to someone and they're most likely not going down unless you hit them in the face. Basically if you want to kill someone now you better hit them in the head or they're not going down. The new maps are vast but again, what's the point of scoping ahead of you if by the time you see someone and hit them in the chest with the M-4 they're not going to go down.
I'm a big fan of Socom 1 but not a fan at all of Socom 2. If you're looking for just the online experience and you want to kill what you hit then I would strongly suggest staying with Socom 1. If you're into new maps, new players, and frustration then Socom 2 is going to be the game for you.

I love this game! I really do... You know what kills it????
Glitchers... And my frozen game problem!! I always freeze it drives me crazy! And I tried everything to stop the dam lag but nope doesn't work... I ahte my life and SOCOM: II.
Sony you blow hardcore for making this.. And zipper... What the hell were you guys thinking at the time???? I just don't understand why I was brought to earth cause all that happened
was making the world worse for everybody including me.
SOCOM: II I bet is way worse than Socom I i really think so. I bet it lags a lot less for one and two I bet it doesn't freeze as soon as you enter a briefing room.

Ok I hate to be a Xbox fanboy here but if this is the PS2's BIG shooter I'm very very very disapointed. I bought it cause we wanted something new to play on my friends PS2. Isn't this game supposed to have great graphics and stuff? Where are they? I see none. The voice recognition is shoddy. The thing that pissed me off the most is (lets assume ensign diff) you can get shot like 30 times and not die but if one of the bad guys is close to you and hits you with his gun you die instantly...bam...you get to do the ENTIRE LEVEL OVER AGAIN!!! Who's friggin idea was that? That's a load of crap. If it weren't for that though the game would be fairly easy so I guess it had to resort to pissing you off.
The game did have some good parts I suppose so I gave it a 7...but from such a ballyhoo'd game I'd expect a 9 rating game. I'm so disapointed in Sony. They screwed up so bad this time around.

I was really excited about getting the game. All the hype behind it made me think the game would be great. Well If I could make it past the first half of the level without getting dizzy as hell and feeling like I was going to vomit then I think it would be fun. I took the first one back hoping to get another one that did not shake. I was hoping I just got a bad copy. Well The second copy does the same damn thing. When I try to aim at somebody the guy just starts slidding along the screen.The screen shakes the whole time except if you are caring a body. Now it is to late to take it back and get something else. All the damn place will let me do is exchange it for another one. Forget that. I have given up on this game. I tried to find a cheat that I could use incase this was part of the game. There is nothing out there that I could find. I would never recomend this game to anyone unless you want to get sick. It is stupid that I had to pay $50 for something that make me sick. I hope I am the only person that has ran into this problem. I hope you all are enjoying this game. But I will never purchase any socom game again.
