Insomniac does it again!!! | | Amir Kolmanic from Athens, Greece says (5/Jan/2004): | Last year's very successful 'Ratchet and Clank' captured gamers' hearts, senses of humor, and wallets! But this time, the indubitable is obvious. Ratchet and Clank 2, Going Commando, perfected its predecessor's flaws. As one of the rare sequels that surpasses its prequel, it's gained a high reputation, gaining more expectation from fans for an upcoming Ratchet 3, if ever it will arrive.
We commence with the game's storyline. Ratchet and Clank, two newly-ambitious heroes who, with the help of many others, managed to unravel the mystery behind the hero named Captain Qwark (and unintentionally humiliated him) who himself was found to be a coward, as opposed to his stereotypically heroic appearance. The traitor was sentenced to jail due to illegal sales of a contraption known as the 'personal hygienator'. In a desperate attempt to escape he flushed himself to freedom. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
The Heroes are queerly teleported to the distant Bogon galaxy, where Abercrombe Fizzwidget confronts them. Fizzwidget explains that the heroes are needed on a mission of 'dire urgitude', wherein they must retrieve a top-secret invention, the protopet. After undergoing commando training, Ratchet and Clank prepare to venture into the depths of Space, not knowing what kinds of perils await them. Progress through levels and find out more about the adventures of Ratchet and Clank.
Blast your enemies with 24 powerful, sly, tricky, tactical, fast and devastating weapons from the Lancer to the Zodiac, each with their unique cost. There is also a possible revival of former weapons such as the visibomb gun or the tesla claw. There is also a brand-new R.Y.N.O. 2 for those whose blood-thirst just wasn't quenched with the previous annihilator. Trick enemies and infiltrate gates with over 20 items and gadgets, including the infiltrator and hypnomatic. New weapons also come with upgrades and therefore adding power and changing appearance.
One of the most exciting improvements would probably be the additional Nanotech booster, allowing you to dramatically increase your health to up to 180 nanotech parts as opposed to the primitive 8 in Ratchet and Clank. There is a catch, though. Different monsters have different powers and therefore dealing different amounts of damage to you. Unlike in Ratchet and Clank, a single hit can be fatal.
Another additive is the very innovative monsterpedia, which records the number of a certain monster that you've defeated along with a description. It also displays the monster's health, armor, strength and toughness, also indicating a picture.
You can partake in the new hoverbike races, similar to hoverboarding, battle starfights and earn bolts, or fight in monster arenas to earn even more bolts. Fight bosses with 'Giant Clank' or raze towers on moons.
The story's humor, fun gameplay and originality have all been retained, with improved graphics and enjoyable sounds. Normal bolts have become gold bolts, while gold have become platinum.
A new option permits you to purchase ship upgrades for starfight and you can now buy armor upgrades for Ratchet.
Tips:
-Save often in order to gain as many bolts as possible and not lose your data
-Do not rush into buying all weapons your salary allows you to; buy helpful, powerful weapons. These are most of them and their functions (they are marked on a scale of 1-5 and 5* (five star) for the very best of the best, 1 being the worst, also, P means PURCHASE, a weapon you need to or should purchase, U means UNECCESSARY and you can purchase if you have extra bolts, and F means FUTILE, these weapons should be bought last, after all the necessaries.
*Lancer - This basic weapon proves good when facing weak/semi-weak or medium strength enemies. It has a high ammunition level and is rapid to fire. It proves useless, however, at higher stages of the game. This weapon is already possessed. (3)
*Gravity Bomb - This is a very powerful weapon with area-of-the-effect damage, useful for scores of enemies. It is not weak even against strong enemies, because the Mini-Nuke packs a very, very mean punch. Its weakness is its range and its lack of ammo. This weapon is already possessed. (4)
*Chopper - A cheap and useful weapon, this star-thrower splits into smaller stars. It is good against many small enemies, but its upgrade can do much more than that. It has only 35 stars, though. (P) (3)
*Seeker Gun - A weapon used to track down enemies, it can be used for small and large alike with its reasonably many 25 missiles. It is weak, though, and is of no special use throughout the game. (F) (2)
*Pulse Rifle - As the game's only sniper, this weapon tends to be a must-buy. However, after accounting for the high cost, disappointment kicks in. The rifle is very powerful, and its upgrade even more so, but it possesses a measly 8 bullets. The sniper is quite useful, though. (U) (3)
*Turret Glove - This very useful turret-launcher is commonly used throughout the game, whether on weak or semi-strong enemies, it protects you and provides cover-fire as you flee, evade or assist-fire. (P) (4)
*Blitz Gun - This very powerful gun is useful against melee attackers in swarms and works best up-close. It fires electrical shockwaves to blast your enemies and send them flying. 40 is quite good an ammo value for such a weapon. (P) (4)
*Hoverbomb Gun - Useful for very strong enemies or many small ones. This weapon sends projectiles flying - detonate them at the right time to create the proper effect. This weapon is very powerful. Quite pricey. (U) (4)
*Synthenoid - Sentry robots, which circle you, supply you with cover fire for a short time. They aren't too powerful, but they come in handy when handling large numbers of enemies, especially small ones. At its time, the price is very high. (P) (4)
*Lava Gun - A tool which fires streaming lava boasts a good power at a low price. Not very useful against ranged or powerful enemies. It has more or less the effect of a Tesla Claw or a Pyrocitor, except its 200 lava shots run out very fast. (F) (3)
*Bouncer - One of the game's most useful weapons, the bouncer sends a mine at a short range and splits into over 10 powerful mines, tracking down nearby enemies and exploding. There is allot of rounds, worth its bolts. (P) (5)
*Minirocket Tube – Probably the most economic of all weapons, this affordable demolisher blasts enemies to smithereens with a great 25 rockets!!! At an incredible range, its upgrade can even fire 4 rockets at once! Useful throughout all of the game, especially against bosses. (P) (5)
*Plasma Coil – As a very expensive weapon, the Plasma Coil is hard to purchase. It has only 15 rays of electricity, but each bolt fired at a single enemy also electrocutes nearby ones. It is also extremely powerful, and its upgrade is devastating! (P) (5)
*Shield Charger – This force field deflects and absorbs nearby shots against Ratchet. Particularly useful against bosses, it is something that cannot be left out. (P) (5)
*Spiderbot Glove – The game’s most useless weapon, the glove sends out a spider with a 30 second life-span to investigate the area and then kamikaze enemies. With 8 charges and a rather weak explosion, this weapon is short of useless, which its price tag can already tell. (F) (1)
*Sheepinator – This queer weapon zaps enemies and morphs them into harmless sheep. It is fun and very useful against very small/weak enemies, but takes too long in changing larger, tougher ones. (Find item) (2)
*Tesla Claw - The former middleweight champion of weapons has now lost its glow. The Tesla Claw proves worthy early in the game, but is just far too weak to cause any real damage later on. It has no upgrade, either. Enemies have gotten tougher since R &C 1. It is free, though. (P) (3)
*Bomb Glove – A standard bomb-thrower with plenty of ammo, it is negligible in strength and besides, the Gravity bomb is here now. (F/U/P) (2)
*Walloper – Still good as a melee weapon, the Walloper packs a punch and sweeps enemies clean off their feet. However, now that the wrench has power-ups, the Walloper has lost its job. (U/P) (2)
*Visibomb Gun – A weapon that was useful in R & C 1, it is even more so here. Some tough enemies just can’t be confronted, so the Visibomb Gun does. Though much weaker in R & C 2, it is still crucial to long-range combat. (P) (4)
*Decoy Glove – This weapon provides little use, for very few cases arise where you actually need it. It is seldom used and pops fast with tougher enemies. (F) (1)
R.Y.N.O. 2 – Rip Ya A New One. Again!!! Again, indescribable damage to your enemies with multiple missiles. Though the price is 1,5 million bolts, it is worth much, much more than that. Cruise past bosses with a couple of shots. (P) (5*)
Zodiac – Bosses had better hit the deck, because we are proud to introduce the king of all weapons! The one, the only!!!!! ZODIAC!!!!!!!!! (PPPPP) (5*)
Well, there you have it, most of the weapons in R&C 2.
-If there are tough enemies ahead that you are afraid to defeat due to life-loss, use the Spiderbot Glove or Visibomb Gun to make sure they’re dead.
-For optimum protection, use the Synthenoid and Miniturret Gun often.
-Fire more than one shot at once with your Megarocket Cannon at strong aircraft to finish them off faster.
-Use the Mini-Nuke, Chopper, Blaster and Lava Gun against swarms of enemies.
-Use weapons like the Minirocket Tube, R.Y.N.O. 2 and Zodiac against bosses.

With all new weapons,fun challenges,and way better graphics,who wouldn't want to buy it? I liked it so much,I've beaten it 3 times already(not to mention that I've only had it for about a month.)Well,I'm here to give tips , hints , cheats , and comments on the game. I'm gonna start out with some tips on how to get tons of bolts:
First, try to beat the game which gives you a bolt multiplyer (the bolt multiplier multiplies the amount of bolts you get according to the multiplying number.) To get the multiplying number up just wipe out enemies. Also be careful not to get hit, that will bring the multiplier back to 1.
Secondly, (after you have beaten the game)the space battles and the battle arena challenges are quite helpful. all of the challenges have increased in value. For example, let's say that you haven't beaten the game a challenge gives about 5,000 bolts, but after you have beaten the game the challenge might be worth 15,000 through 2 million bolts. In addition to the challenges and battles, the hoverbike races have also increased in value. Thats all the tips about getting bolts that I have for now.
Now, for some hints that might help you play better :
My first hint might not help everyone , but it helps me.
Try turning the volume all the way down and turning some music on. Try different kinds of music, some might distract you,for instance hard rock distracts me from the game. though some stuff helps you get intuned with the game.
Another hint is to turn the lights off. It makes you pay more attention to the television and less attention to anything else.
I have one more hint for you. Get everything you need before you start playing, then you will not have to put the game on pause to go get a soda or snacks. You'll have it all there with you (sorry I don't have anything I can do about going to the restroom.) Ok,now I have a cheat for you. This cheat is to get into the Insomniac Museum without getting any weapons, mods, or skill points. Start on planet Boldan,Silver City. Then, go to the grind rail part. When you get there start grinding.
Look to your left (while grinding) for a large segment of land with a garage on the right side of it. Once you get close to the piece of land hit one of the electrical posts, which will cause you to fall off the grind rail. Once you have fallen off, glide to the segment of land. Walk to the garage door. The door will be closed, so walk around to the left side of the garage. There will be a hole on that side,although it is not visible. If you walk forward form that side,eventually you will fall in. Once you are in, walk forward a few steps then jump up, which will get you into the garage. There are a few guards in there. Walk toward the guards (this will be the way to your destination) kill the guards, right behind them there will be a teleporting device, step onto it. It will say "press triangle to teleport to the Insomniac Museum." Press triangle. Enjoy the Insomniac Museum! I hope this information helped you out. This game is truly #1! Insomniac is the best!!! I just wanted to tell you all how much I luv this game coz lets face it when i played the first 1 i thought oh my god they cannot make a game better than this and in the box there was an advertisement for ratchet and clank 2 and i thought i bet thats ok as well but not as good but you compare R&C 1 with r&c 2 its easy wich 1's best. the graphics are better easily. the weapons are miles better coz you get the originals including the all-powerful tesla claw from R&C 1 and its virtualy useless! It has taken me 57 hours to complete it twice and i have just beaten it again and have still not got everything! The new abilities such as climbing up walls (challenge mode only go in secrets and put first person mode ON go up to the wall double clik X and hit square repeatedly until up the wall) and the new race (hova bike insted of hova board) and the new boots called Boost Boots beware even though you get more health doesnt mean you get more life e.g. some enemies take up to half your health off even with the $1 million carbonox armour in challenge mode is useless.
Must Buy:
1) Imust say the Zodiac is slightly disapointing and it is almost useless and pathetic fortunately it comes pre-upgraded so nothing needs to be done with it. Alot of people will call me mad but it is useless for a massive $1.5 million bolts. It has a mere 4 ammo extremely expensive ammo at that 10,000 for just 1! compared to the R.Y.N.O. IT IS USELESS!
2The must have R.Y.N.O. 2 is what you want it is a mere million bolts and is ten times more effective than than the zodiac costs less and to buy the full 1 HUNDRED ammo for it costs a mere 5000 bolts which is half the price of 1 zodiac unless they think 200 R.Y.N.O. 2 does the destructive equivalent of 1 zodiac ammo but there ya go...
3)The Carbonox armor (or sommat like that...) is 90% damage proof and is extremely useful in normal mode because everything (if it hits you coz its 90% damage proof) takes a mere 1 very useful if you have 180 full nanotech unfortunately is only available in grelbin 3rd to last level and is pricey but worth it at $ 1 million bolts good for storming the vast frozen desert in Grelbin and the last level.
my favourite gadget though has got to be the hypnomatic because it is so useful and amazingly good.
Also my favourite weapon for stuff is the blitz gun/cannon
It is very useful for the newly introduced megacorp games
One of the hardest things in the game though is the impossible cahllenge (worth a skill point) i recomend the upgraded sythenoid,the upgraded shield charger,the upgraded plasma gun the upgraded blitz gun,the upgraded haoverbomb and the upgraded gravity bomb at least.

You Can Also Collect Secret "Platnium Bolts", Which At Certain Vendors Will Allow You To Purchase Mods For Your Weapons. [Acid,Lock-On & Shock]You Can Also Upgrade Your Health Capacity By Filling The Gauge Below Your Nanotech [Your Health]. When You Reach Certain Levels, You Can Buy Improved Body Armor Which Make It So Enemy Attacks Aren't As Damaging As They Were Before. It's Pretty Important To Improve Your Armor When Possiable. In Certain Levels, You Can Also Race Hoverbikes, Or Even Fly A Fighter Ship & Accomplish Various Tasks. In Other Levels, You Can Play As The Robot Guy, Clank. I Won't Say Much About The Clank Levels Other Then, "Would You Like A Nano-Robot Army?... hehehehe...". Overall This Game Is Cool & You Should AT LEAST Rent It.

If you haven't already tried this game you have to try it or buy it. The weapons you should NEVER save up for are zodiac,clank zapper, mega megaturret upgraded version of the miniturret. The six top weapons you should save up for are the mega tetrabomb upgraded hoverbomb,rhino 2,tesla barrier upgraded shield charger,plasma storm upgraded plasma coil, killinoid upgraded sythenoid, and the tankbot (the upgraded spiderbot glove)
The top 6 ways to get bolts are 1. hit breakables (box breaker required)2. challenge mode (you have to beat the game) 3.collect crystals (planet tobora and grelbin) 4. battle arenas(levels maktar nebula and joba) 5. ship battles (levels the feltzin system,hrugris cloud, and gorn) 6. hoverbike races (planets Joba and Barlow)
In the ship battles the number 1 weapon is the nuclear detonation device you can kil all the ships at once! The second best weapon is the mega mine.never buy the warp system it sucks! The best wings for the ship are the high lift wings. make sure to buy the fusion laser cannons and the nuclear detonation device. one more thing is you need raritanium to buy these things. the best ways to get raritanium are 1. to blow up ships 2. shoot icebergs 3. use the drill ship in planets toboro and grelbin ( you need the magnet boots)
The best way to fight in clanks battles is to keep pressing and keep jumping if necessary. press triangle to do your bomb attack and O to fire missiles.You can find health,bombs and missiles by killing robots and punching buildings. to kill the flying saucer when hes about to power up and use his electric power attack you jump on him until he's dead.

I am personally in love with Ratchet and you have a problem with it, I suggest you shut up. Anywho, this game is so awesome. I can't wait till Thanksgiving cause that's when I celebrate my b-day wit mah relatives and that's when I get the good games. I'm gonna get The Sims 2 and on my real b-day (which I aint tellin when it is) I'm gettin Ratchet and Clank, Up Your Arsenal. That game is also supposed to kick < remove me > at $$ too. It looks like one of the best Ratchet and Clank games. I don't get why Angela is so tall and Ratchet is so short. And ya know wat else... they like eachother! LOL The only thing that's bad about the lombax couple is that Angela is WAY TOO TALL. She actually has to bend down to kiss Ratchet. But other than that, they r soooooooo cute 2gether. They make an awesome couple. They r ment 2 b. (sry that im writing so much but plz read it) Clank is weird. The only reason that I like him is because he can turn into a thruster pack(fav), waterjetpackthingwhatever(2), turn into a helipack(yuck) and because he can control those cute little microbots! My favorite thing about it is the new weapons because they are much powerfull.My favorite weapons are ryno2,ultra killanoid,ultra tesla barrier,and the zodiac.The ryno2 is well worth it and is the strongest weapon in the game.The zodiac is kind of disapointing, but it looks cool . The armour is a new thing.It limits you getting hurt.The armor that you could buy is tetra fiber,duraplate,electro steel, and corbonox. The best armor is the corbonox for 1,000,000 bolts but worth it.
The new gadgets are really cool.The new gadgets are the tracter beam,dynamo,thermanator, and the hypnomatic. My favorite one is the hypnomatic(control robots).The tracter beam is also cool by moving manegnetic objects from place to place.Dynamo is the gadget that controls things like a elevator or somthing.The thermanator is the gadget that can frost and defrost water.The gadgets are much more complex and easier to use. they are also cooler looking than the original gadgets.
The graphics are way better and are complex.Like when you get to be in your ship and do battles and advance the ship in ways to increase your battle skills. My favorite new aspect about is when you battle in your ship.The new levels were you battle as clank is also lots of fun.The thugs4less place om the 2nd planet was awsome.
My basic out come of the game is it is a great great great great great great game.

It is the best game I ever played!!!! It has no swearing, no blood, i reccomend this to kids 12 and up! The reaosn why twelve and up is because it's hard. People say video games are stupid and a waste of time and money but they aren't!! You learn logic puzzles, you learn phisics and you can get exellent hand/eye coordination!!! This game is awesome. My dad likes it and he's a pastor! My mom thought we shouldn't get it because it said kick < remove me > at $$ on the back but even she was caught watching us and giving tips. eventuly she admitted that it wasn't so bad. I am not lying. It is soooo good. I've played the Jak games before and they rock!!! Nothing against Jak fans because I think you guys are awesome but Ratchet and Clank is my fav. Ratchet and Jak rule! You can't like one and hate the other! Insomniac and Naughtydog are friends. Though I'd reccomend Jak2 and Jak3 for peeps 13 and up.
Parents, this game is approapriate for your teens and even kids around 11 if they like challenges. One thing I've noticed here that all of the people who say bad stuff about Ratchet and Clank 2 here don't seem to be polite or respectful and they complain on and on.
This is such an awesome game but don't buy it if you're a prep, attention seeker, complainer, or vidoe game hater.

These are hints and NOT cheats!
To get skill points get everything upgraded on ur weapons and your ship but first get the nuke or laser cannons. in the first hover bike race just after the water tunnel bit u will see a dent in left corner, turn in and there's a plat. bolt inside. on the dobbo planet there is a giant clank battle this is a skill point where you can get robo rampage to get this destroy all of the buildings. On planet Joba there is is a dynamo go back on to the ledge you will see a swing shot, if you swing on it and get to the other side there will be enemy's BEWARE! there are 2 pigs, 1 on the outside and 1 in the dome where a plat. bolt is. On planet notak destroy everthink that is breakable and you will get a skill point. BEWARE! some things are in the air. use vapourizer/pulserifle to get these. to collect loads of bolts without cheating - get most of the amo by getting megacorp boxes and also do this on the ship levels 5 times on each steps.
Go and get this game and use all the hints! this is a really excellent game!

| my best game | | DAN COOK from England Suffolk says (13/Jan/2004): | i think this game is wicked but why do they call it Ratchet and Clank going commando its really called locked and loaded. this game is better than the first one because it has more action and defiantly more and cooler guns. it has brilliant graphics. the gameplay is brilliant aswell. i reccomend this game to anyone who has either played no.1 or hasn't even seen the game. it's created y the insomniac and they created the best spyro games aswell. so anyone who has played them games should play ratchet and clank. i've got no problems with the game at all. i love playing clank he is just so cool espcially when he has his protopet friends they are really cute. i did get a bit stuck on the game that was only because i kept going the wrong way.

| awesome game very awesome | | sunder from grand rapids MI USA says (27/Jan/2004): | i have the first game which stinks in comparison to the seqeul i never beat the 1st version my bro rented this and i beat it 2 times and was about 75% of the way to my 3rd time when game was due back all in a 5 day period >=) i was addicted still am they made this game like 100 times better then the first upgradable weapons =D i had almost all the ultra weapons even the shield the graphics and levels are so much better also the last game was very hard cause it was hard and they gave you crappy stuff to win this time its hard and they give you good stuff the weapons on here are so much better then the old ones well the r.h.y.n.o.2 rocks i don't even use the old weapons they put on the new game cause they are super weak the whole setup of the new game is just so much better sooooooo much new stuff its hard to list everything and its features it would take a good while all i know is i need to rent this again soon or buy it cause i want to beat the game again and upgrade the rest of my stuff i tried going back and playing the old version cause i own it and man it was like going back to the stone age it was just not good well thats all i can think of for now =b

I really like the arena battle too! To whoever stinkers think this game is dumb, i bet they never even played it. I love the new weapons ! my personal favort weapons are: R.H.I.N.O II, Ultra Mini Nuke, Ultra Heavy Bouncer, ultra rocket tube, ultra Multi-Star, Ultra HK22 Seaker Gun, Ultra Vaporizer, Ultra Blitz Cannon, and the sheald charger is also usefull. (Note: you can only get the "Ultra" versions of weapons when you beat the game once and go in challenge mode. But first you will have to by the maga versions upgrades from the vender Then upgrade the maga versions by geting experince with them. It will take a wile to go from Maga to ultra but its worth the time because thay hold tones of ammo and alot more powerfull!) The $1million armor is worth the bolts too. the gameplay is sweet when you keep beating the game it gets harder thats a good thing! I just had the game for about a month but its my favort! thats why i give it a 9 outa 10 Stars on the fun factor. if you wonna do something fun go to the speceals menu and go to short cuts theres some fun stuff there! this game is one of the best games out!

The Zodaic would be better if it was cosentrated in to a line, but it's all spread out. This gam's the best. We have number one and number two. By the way try defetting chainblade with your Wrench. You get a skill point for that. Go to your specail in the puase menu to see skill points you might have doen if you'v doen 5 go to cheats and you can get a cheat. Go to Mega corp vender. If you see a volcano gun DON"T BUY IT!! The ryno two is the best gun!! Rachet & clank 1 and two is the best.
it's great. It's so complex. How did they make it, did they take a real univures and sqaush it into the disc. Sweat it rock's. I just wish they had the blaster from the first one. It rocked.

It's also good for math. What's a 1000 bolts - 100 bolts + The bolts you get for winning the impossible challange in the second arena = 200,900 bolts or the lancers ammo plus the sheald ammo=305ammo The best game ever.
