An Ecxiting, Addictive, and Fun Game!!!!46119

Tommy from Broomfeild, colorado, USA says (21/Jun/2006):
Although this game is alot different from Jak and Daxter, it was really fun, ecxiting and acion packed. The missions were really fun and the graphics were better than some of the games I played. I wouldnt say it was a hard game, but it wasnt easy either. The events and characters are creative and cool. I also like how they found some places to slip alittle funny parts into this game (Particuly with Daxter). I think this is about my 3rd or 2nd favorite game. I like this game better than Jak and Daxter and Jak 3.

The missions were creative and fun to do. The fun missions continued to come and come (Especialy at the end) and after you beat on of these fun missions theres anotherone comeing right after it. That makes the game addictive and keeps you busy for a long time without getting board. Of coarse, without ecxiting events theres no reason wy your playing the fun missions.

The storyline is origional and creative. you really get into the story even when your not playing it. Sometimes I thought "WOW!, THIS IS THE FUTCHER!?" Or "I KNEW HE WAS A BAD GUY!!" and othertimes i just re-think the entire story of Jak in my head. It has a better story than most games. I think the story line is important. Thats why I dont like sport games or games without a story line.

These graphics are better than alot of other games. What an improvement! If you played Jak and daxter you probably noticed that the graphics are BAD!! These graphics are so much better and the detail is alot better!!

The Level of dificulty was just right. I didnt want a game that was so easy it doesnt even feel like your playing a game but i also didnt want it so hard that It was next to imposible to beat. This was perfect for me. Maybe some people prefer it harder or easier but I think this is just right. Besides if the mission is fun, why wouldyou be in a big rush to finish it?

I think the characters are also origional and creative. I like how they kept just a few characters from the first one and introduced alot of new characters. I also like the variety of character types: Stand-offish, tuff, fat, troble-making, stupid, annoying, scared, smart, Ect...

Although its a really acion packed game, they slip in some comedy. I like comedy so I liked the funny parts. If you dont like comedy, therse not to much of it but if you like it, theres enoghf to keep you satisfied.

This game isnt just for people like me, Its for alot of different people. If you like sport games, you get to do trickes on a hover-board, if you like adventure games, it is an adventure game, if you like comedy it has comedy, if you like useing guns, he uses a gun, if you dont you can punch or kick him. Everyone sould like this game.

38910

Victoria from Colonia, New Jersey, USA says (8/Feb/2004):
I think this was a great game. I normally dont have time to play playstation2, but for this game i made time. This is one of the most addicting games i've ever seen. I found my self almost missing the bus for work, staying up till 3 thinkin it's only 11, and juss seeing cruisers while walkin home at night. As a female, I think this game was great because it's not all about shooting and killing. It's like little missions u have to beat to advance. AND like alot reviews had said, it is difficult..but that just makes it more fun. Cause when u finally beat the game as i did today...u feel very proud... and now just wanting more. The graphics were awsome. Specially when he became dark jak. The cool thing is the videos can change whats in the background. Ive noticed other games cant do that. Some of the boss's took alot of patientce to beat..but their creation (how they look, and use their powers) is awsome. The story line is awsome, has suprises, and quite humorous. It also continued from the first one, which i found not as challenging. The sounds in the game were okay, because sometimes when u beat a mission and that walkietalkie guy comes up, u cant always understand it. But sound was an important part in the game, with diferent voices, gunshots, and different music for different backgrounds. I think it is very original because it makes u use all different skills u have aquired over your gaming years. Whether speed, sense of direction, navigation, hearing, aim, racing, hunting, and much more. It also had alot of different settings. The town, and then the doors that led somewhere outside the city, and then different areas that u need keys to access, and then u have the portals-to teleport. It makes the game very fun and addictive.

Overall i thnk this was a great, great game. I am actually sad i beat it because i have to find something new to do. haha..I hope the next Jak is as good and adventerous as this one was. I CAN'T WAIT TIL JAK 3 COMES OUT!!

good good stuff44554

Matt from Diamond Bar, USA says (14/Apr/2005):
this game does have some problems where some of the missions are kind of hard but if you keep going at it, it gets very easy. i beat it in about a week but it was a nice week. the controls are funky and hard to memorize at first but you get used to them, like all other games. missions are nicely varied, you get to use some of each aspect of the game a little bit. i just wish there were more segments with the robot. the ending leaves something to be desired of as well. the last boss was not as innovative as the other bosses. you simply shot at him, ran for ammo, shot at him some more. and the dark jak of him was a great great aspect of the game, because you had some really POWERFUL powers to kick butt with. the problem with that is that sometimes there wasnt enough butt to kick with it. the zoomers in the game are quite annoying as well as they dont turn fast enough and the other zoomers in the air blend with the bg so you cant see them until you've hit them and died haha.

i dont feel people were being fair with the learning curve of this game. i caught on really fast, and usually, as soon as i caught on, i put it to use. and most of the missions simply require you to use your HEAD! and you gotta watch out of course. some of the best moments, are when the game is chasing you around and you're jumping across moving platforms, flaming platforms, and platforms that let you fall to your death. and you're just jumping and jumping, shooting, jumping, and then you die. but you laugh because it was challenging yet you were able to get through some of it and your mind was racing with what to do next. and you go at it again. those moments are the highlight of this game and there are enough of them to make it worth it.

Fun But Way Too Difficult38393

Leon from Cumberland, Md says (19/Jan/2004):
Before you condemn me for dissing the game, please read what I have to say first.
Jak and Daxter was a game I had played a demo of, and myself and my entire family loved it. We bought it for Christmas in 2002, and we couldn't stop playing it. We finished it in about a week, and my kids played it through several times. Great graphics, story, etc.
Then we bought jak II. Different story. My problem is having the original mildly challenging game evolve into one of the most difficult games I have ever played. This should not happen to a game line. I bought this game thinking it would be similiar to the original but basically feel I wasted my money. My wife and kids will never begin to complete this game, and although I am about 80% finished, I may not myself.
Perhaps the company felt that if they produced a new game title that they would not sell as many as if they just expanded on an existing title. That may be the case, but they also shouldn't do what they did either.
I buy video games for fun and enjoyment, not work - this game feels like work. You may disagree, but do you work 40 hours a week and spend your hard earned money on things you think are fun, only to discover you have been taken?
Also, I have read a lot of the reviews on here, and I should say that from the grammar, spelling, and punctuation that I have seen used, you should spend more time studying than playing games.

Dark & Confusing33511

Not Provided from Tampa, FL (USA) says (16/Oct/2003):
Jak II, at first glance, is a much darker and more complex game than it's precursor. The graphics are greatly improved from the original, but the game play has become increasingly more complex. While the added challenge of the game may appeal to some players, to me it detracts from the elegant simplicity that made the first installment of this series such a fun game to play. Taking a page from Grand Theft Auto, a large part of the game (so far) seems to involve hijacking cars, running from the police, and blindly wandering around a maze-like city with a really poor map system. Again, this is both a blessing and a curse. The game play is fun and exciting, but gradually becomes wearisome as the 'Crimson Guards' shoot you out of the air for the 20th time.

The actual missions themselves, when you get to them, are similar to what we say in the original Jak and Daxter, if somewhat more challenging. New enhancements to the game such as the use of firearms and a hoverboard add some fun, but also present themselves with challenges of their own.

NaughtyDog Games has come up with a hit with Jak II, but be prepared for a very different game from the original.

Too much rat-maze... too little invilvement38568

Karim Perry from toronto, canada says (25/Jan/2004):
I LIKED Jak I... it was a very pretty NEW platform game... it had some 3-d camera quibles... and blind-siding problems... but it was well laid out and fun.. with many realistic and immediate goals.

JAKII ... ughh... the first third of the game is tiresome as hell... back and forth... back and forth... learn the maze, rat; naughty dog seems to be saying. Whoever in that team is hooked on GTA (grand theft auto) needs detox. Its one thing to drive some kind of vehicle around... its another to dry hump a whore while you're blasted. The controls of the game... sheesh... ive memorized less doing calculus. The game has ripped off every 'HOT' game in the past 2 years and not well.... they even ripped off they're own... same camera problems.... nasty hiding bad guys hitting you from blind areas... they should've just wrapped up some RUBY DICE IN PRETTY PAPER AND CALLED IT

CRAPS AND DICESTER

33% thru and then you get a 'boss'?? not even a good boss... like an afterthought... and the 'easter-eggs'??? loooook everywhere... there hiiiiden.... my ASS!!!!!! throw tacks in my face would be more subtle!

Not fun35848

Matt Tucker from Newport , RI, USA says (22/Nov/2003):
If I had wanted Grand Theft Auto, that's what I would have bought. If that's the kind of game you want, then this may be your game. Jak II is extremely frustrating to play, and the increased dependence on the driving portion of the gameplay (my least favorite part of the original) moves this game into a much different realm from the traditional platform game. There is much less reliance on puzzle solving and more dependence on driving fast and shooting fast (ex. Escaping from the water sewers in the second seal mission). in Jak II, and this detracts from the overall flavor of the game. The graphics are very good, although I had some camera angle issues here and there. The story is interesting, but having to drive or hike your way from one side of the city to the next repeatedly is tiresome. Frequently the mission takes less time than it does to get from wherever you are to the start point of that mission. The city would be more interesting if there was more to explore, and to gain from that exploration, but since there isn't, it isn't. I was really looking forward to this game and have been pretty disappointed so far.

a challenge worth conquering!34351

Brandon from derry, nh USA says (29/Oct/2003):
jak 2 is a brilliant game that pushes the ps2's grapgics capabilities to its fullest. the scenery is very smooth and clear, and the enormous world gives plenty of space to drive around and look for missions. the missions themselves can be VERY challenging, but i think it is about time for a platformer that you cant just breeze through in a couple of hours. the wit and humor of the original j&d is still here, only a bit darker. this game has taken the best elements from not only the first j&d, but games like GTA and ratchet and clank. the only gripe i have is that i wish the environment could be more interactive, with more little nooks to explore, and actually have the buildings take damage when you crash or shoot. the secrets that you get upon beating the game and collecting the precursor stones are fun because you can watch all of the cut-scenes without playing through the whole game again, and you can get unlimited ammo and dark jak, overall, this game rocks, and anyone who thinks it can be too frustrating is crazy. it is just the right challenge to keep serious gamers engaged for many hours to come:)

I can't stop playing it36667

Frank from Lawton, OK USA says (6/Dec/2003):
Jak 2 is the best game I've ever played, the plot is awesome(just like a real movie), the missions are so challenging only the strong survive. It has got something for everyone; it has got racing, car hijacking, awesome guns, a jet board for the skaters, and pretty much anything else a good game should have(including whack-a-metalhead), you even get to play as Daxter! It is much much better than the first one, especially because you don't have to run around collecting a bunch of crap. You can collect precursor orbs but this time you actually get something out of it. It has so many genres also mystery, action, adventure, fantasy, and sci-fi. It is like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Sherlock Holmes mixed into one. I especially like the fact that Jak talks too; Inever got why he didn't before. This is very addicting also I got it during Thanks giving break and would not stop playing it. I played it so much I beat it in less than a week(it would've taken a lot longer if Ididn't have so much time on my hands). So if you liked the first one you will definately like this one. Buy it now!

Jak II is more Kool than Kiddie36749

A gamer says (8/Dec/2003):
I'm glad that this time, Jak and Daxter isn't as much for kids as it is now. Graphics are gorgeous. Although it takes a really long time to get from one place to another, the gameplay is worth the wait. I guess you're wondering then why I put a 9 up there. I think there should be less gun, more thought. I know that doesn't rhyme. There is more shooting going on then there is real thought. The only places that actually require thought is in the tests of manhood, and when you are running around with Sig trying to put the boxes in the hole before they explode, and you can use your gun for that, too. The lifespan of the game is good. There is always something to do. My personal favorite part is where you play the Whack-A-Metalhead game. Daxter's expressions are priceless. I think that it is strange that even though you have 8 hits, getting shot by a Krimzon Guard can take away 2. Why not just one? The sound is synchronized perfectly with the words they are saying. I am also glad the voices aren't trying too hard. Overall, I think 9 would be a good score.

Good game, kinda addictive 2!39641

Carmen from Alabama, USA says (11/Mar/2004):
Jak 2 is a good game but it seems a little harder than the first one and is definitely different. The story mode is cool, graphics too, and it is fun. I've only 88% through it, stuck on the metal heads masher game, which I can't get a hold of. And don't think that this game is nothing else but punking the police, stealing cars, and the best part, getting away with it is the only thing you do, but you also have to test your brain too. If any have made it to the Onin game, you'll know what I mean, I've been seeing symbols in my sleep cuz it blew my mind and made me angry, lol.

But the only bad parts about the game are listed as followed: when you help the guys in the sewer, if you accidently hit them, they'll shoot you and beat you up. Second, a little too much crime, like the crimelord, or whatever that blob is Krew you have to work for, and last, people dissin you, Erol, even though they turned you (Jak) into what you are now (Dark Jak).

Before I leave, I would like to say, that Dark Jak is the coolest, man!

Jak is Back35943

Jak and Daxter Game Fan from Woodstock,Illinois says (23/Nov/2003):
This game is awesome thats all I can say. The graphics rule the sound is excellent. The awesome thing about this game is that yo can get weapons and blow stuff up. The fun factor is awesome you can actually control Daxter in this one. The titan suit is great you can just go around causing havoc with it. The lifespan was pretty cool it had a decent amount of energy. This is a completely different game from the other one which was good too. The storyline was cool I liked How Jak can now turn into DARK JAK you can go around doing massive combos my favorite was dark bomb. The only wierd thing was once the camera angle got messed up. Sometimes the Kimzon gaurd can get on your nerves they never leave you alone always shooting at you for no reason. I liked the new characters such as: Ashelin,Torn,Vin,Sig,Onin,Baron Praxis,Erol,Kor,Krew and the mysterious kid. Jaks new look is so cool he looks like a super saiyan 3. All in all I rate this game a te out of ten for an awesome fun factor and cool gameplay

Futuristic Grand theft auto33957

JT Moore from IL, USA says (23/Oct/2003):
I thought Jak 2 was amazing. It's just like a futuristic grand theft auto. You can jak hovercars, kill people, and do tons of missions in order to find Baron, the man that experimented on you and turned you into a Super saiyan like figure. A definite must buy. Much better than the prequel. But, when you turn into Dark Jak, you are not as strong as other characters transformations like Super saiyan, Devil trigger, or the Hulk. As a matter of fact, you're not that much stronger. You can get extra powers to help destroy enemies, but once you do that move, you waste your whole mode. It also takes lots of Eco to turn into Dark Jak, and he's not even that powerful. That's about the only bad part about Jak2. The graphics are cool, Jak and Daxter are very cool and funny. The game is also a challenge. You can do tons of things like swim, hoverboard, double jump, and you have a 4 weapons to choose from.

A helpful tip33957

A gamer from New Jersey, USA says (30/Mar/2004):
This is for Sally from England...In order to beat the 5 Hellcat cruiser mission, try firing from a short distance. Using the vulcan (machine gun) fire from a mid distance. By this I mean not so close that the hellcat blowing up will hurt your vehicle, and not so far away that the hellcat will get away from you. Another advantage to being a little distanced from the hellcats is that the guards who are escorting the hellcats will not be close enough to be accurate. When the hellcat tries to escape, keep up with it with the vulcan blazing. After you down one, move on the next, ignoring the guards as you move on. If your zoomer is taking on too much damage, hijack another one. The key to this mission is driving. Drive fast yet careful through the city, this takes practice and patience. So don't give up, it tooke me about 5-10 trys before I finally beat this mission.

Jak 2 is the best game ever40942

A gamer from Denver says (19/May/2004):
Jak 2 is by far the best game ever. I didn't really like Jak and Daxter that much because I was really bad at it and I wasn't that excited when Jak 2 came out, but when I watched my brother play it I decided to give it a go and thought it was awsome and fell in love with it. The graphics were so much better than the first one. I thought the sound was fine to. The parts that made me like it even more was the fact that you got to race and do mind blowing thricks on the jet-bord and I love games that you can do things like that. Even though there are some hard parts and while I was stuck on them, it gave me something to think about and I eventually got past those hard parts. I think about this game most of the time even if I'm not stuck some where in this huge, fantastic game. I strongly suggest you buy this game.(Other wise your missing out!)

this game was one of the best platform games i have ever played36412

pb&j hater says (30/Nov/2003):
the first jak and daxter was fun at the beginning, but once i got far, it just became impossible. i was expecting the same thing for this game, but i like to try out games. so i bought it withought playing it, but as soon as i popped it in to the ps2, i couldn't put it down. the graphics are amazing, and so is the gameplay. fortunatley much unlike the first one, certain parts were difficult but not impossible, the most i ever had to redo a level was 7 times, and that is not a lot. i beat the game in 2 weeks, but after 5 months of the first one, im still not done. the weapons are easy to aim and use and the driving is so much fun, the only thing i had a problem with was finding the precursor orbs. and in this one you dont have to find power cells or anything like that, you just have to complete the missions whatever they may be.

CONFUSING YET COOL.35367

Kia from california, USA says (15/Nov/2003):
When I started playing JakII, I was really surprised to come in counter with a old man named kor. This game is even bether than the first, but the only thing that I didn't like was to have to look all around for precursor orbs. In JakII precursor orbs are pretty hard ot get and the're also scarce. When I got through 80% of the game I had to find the metal head leader, but when I go after the Baron in a junk yard I see kor jump off a tower and transform into the metal head leader, which was pretty wierd since kor has been helping me through out the whole game.
In addition Kor just kills the baron right in front of me. That made me really mad since I have been gowing through dumb tasks just to get to him, and I wanted the baron just to myself. But other than that this game is the greatest thing ever made. Buy it if you don't have it.

Piers from Kent,England says (14/Dec/2003):

Incredible38337

Hal from NH, USA says (17/Jan/2004):
Currently I'm playing Jak II with my little brother who's 6 if you can believe that. We aren't incredibly far but this game is the most addicting one we've found yet. It's difficult but it makes you want to beat it. We're about half way through it and he's done most of the work. The game has a nice mix between down time and action, giving you time to race and drop things off as well as defeating the soldiers and any other random civilians in the way >.> *cough* Graphics are great, the movement of the characters is believeable, I find this a must, long game but entertaining, and it is better then the first. I bought the first for my brother last year and the second for him this year, he loves them both but he didn't care to finish the first while for this one he's addicted as am I.
