Fantastic, but too hard. |
| J.J from Australia Vic says (6/Nov/2003): |
Jak 2 is a great game with superb graphics exellent sound and a story of misdirected love, revenge and guns and cars with a bit of skate boarding as well. but the missions are just to hard although some players enjoy a challenge but this is really really hard, like every time you aquire something you need to do challenges for that thing once you have it and you have already earned it. and you have to kill guards to get ammo and every time you kill a guard the alarm is raised and you die about a million times. note:i is easy at first, but you will see.

a challenge worth conquering! |
| Brandon from derry, nh USA says (29/Oct/2003): |
jak 2 is a brilliant game that pushes the ps2's grapgics capabilities to its fullest. the scenery is very smooth and clear, and the enormous world gives plenty of space to drive around and look for missions. the missions themselves can be VERY challenging, but i think it is about time for a platformer that you cant just breeze through in a couple of hours. the wit and humor of the original j&d is still here, only a bit darker. this game has taken the best elements from not only the first j&d, but games like GTA and ratchet and clank. the only gripe i have is that i wish the environment could be more interactive, with more little nooks to explore, and actually have the buildings take damage when you crash or shoot. the secrets that you get upon beating the game and collecting the precursor stones are fun because you can watch all of the cut-scenes without playing through the whole game again, and you can get unlimited ammo and dark jak, overall, this game rocks, and anyone who thinks it can be too frustrating is crazy. it is just the right challenge to keep serious gamers engaged for many hours to come:)

woooo |
| Briar Moss from San Antonio, USA says (26/Oct/2003): |
This is one of the best games i have ever played. The only thing i can find wrong with it is that some of the missions are horribly difficult. Getting the seal from the water slums is my least favorite part of the game. i beat it once, but i forgot how to beat it again (on my 2nd file). other than that, this game owns, and Naughty Dog really knows what its doing.

This Is Still The Same Old Jak, But With Upgrades! |
| Matt E. from Bradenton, Florida says (25/Oct/2003): |
When i first started playing Jak 2 the most obvious cool addition was that Jak actually speaks in this one and his comments are witty and funny, but with Daxter I felt a void. Clearly by the title the game developer wanted to make Daxter a lesser part of the game but i miss his comments and his buddy-buddy attitude with Jak.But the game itself is fantastic it displays the PS2's full power and the genius of the at Mad Dog. If you don't have this game buy it.And Hopefully the next game will be named Daxter

GTA4 pluss RATCHETANDCLANK pluss HUMOUR= Jak2 |
| Affan from London, England says (25/Oct/2003): |
THis game is brilliant, it has a beautiful city which i love to fly around in with my hover craft, it has four exciting guns brilliant graphics and a wicked story line. If it wer'nt for the fact that its missions can get a bit frustrating, i would've give it ten out of ten. A must buy game, and unlike most playstation two titles, it is actually better than its preddessor.

Futuristic Grand theft auto |
| JT Moore from IL, USA says (23/Oct/2003): |
I thought Jak 2 was amazing. It's just like a futuristic grand theft auto. You can jak hovercars, kill people, and do tons of missions in order to find Baron, the man that experimented on you and turned you into a Super saiyan like figure. A definite must buy. Much better than the prequel. But, when you turn into Dark Jak, you are not as strong as other characters transformations like Super saiyan, Devil trigger, or the Hulk. As a matter of fact, you're not that much stronger. You can get extra powers to help destroy enemies, but once you do that move, you waste your whole mode. It also takes lots of Eco to turn into Dark Jak, and he's not even that powerful. That's about the only bad part about Jak2. The graphics are cool, Jak and Daxter are very cool and funny. The game is also a challenge. You can do tons of things like swim, hoverboard, double jump, and you have a 4 weapons to choose from.

great |
| greenglass from new york USA says (20/Oct/2003): |
This game is a wonderful addition to the jak and dexter epic. it is a beautiful experience... fun missions and a huge city to explore.
If i had to compare - This game reminded me of GTA 3 [of course] and tomb raider I.the graphics are good.. the sound even better.
you'll want to keep playing even though sometimes you will throw the controller - since some of the boards/missions are really frustrating. A great overall experience..
things i miss from the first-- dextar's dances.. and his smart remarks when you die.. but the new game play makes up for it.
get it!

Aboslutely Great |
| Shadow Badger from Connecticut says (19/Oct/2003): |
Thsi is amazing... I found myself spending hours just cruzin around the city, hijacking cars, and shooting down the police. I love it. Reminds me alot of Driver 2 and Garnd Theft Auto. Then the hoverboard you get later on puts in a skateboarding element. Guns. Cars. Great Storyline. Skateboarding. Great Game hands down!

Jak 2 is like a mixture of Grand Theft Auto and Rathet And Clank |
| A gamer from Ivyland, Pa USA says (17/Oct/2003): |
incredible! beats Gta and crushes Rathcet and clank. Naughty Dog has brought their best game yet. You can jack cars, do crazy amesome missions for the boys back home, all trying to stop Baron Praxis. The graphics are some of the best out there. Deciept. Love. Guns. Revenge. How can it get better than that. Get it now!

Dark & Confusing |
| Not Provided from Tampa, FL (USA) says (16/Oct/2003): |
Jak II, at first glance, is a much darker and more complex game than it's precursor. The graphics are greatly improved from the original, but the game play has become increasingly more complex. While the added challenge of the game may appeal to some players, to me it detracts from the elegant simplicity that made the first installment of this series such a fun game to play. Taking a page from Grand Theft Auto, a large part of the game (so far) seems to involve hijacking cars, running from the police, and blindly wandering around a maze-like city with a really poor map system. Again, this is both a blessing and a curse. The game play is fun and exciting, but gradually becomes wearisome as the 'Crimson Guards' shoot you out of the air for the 20th time.
The actual missions themselves, when you get to them, are similar to what we say in the original Jak and Daxter, if somewhat more challenging. New enhancements to the game such as the use of firearms and a hoverboard add some fun, but also present themselves with challenges of their own.
NaughtyDog Games has come up with a hit with Jak II, but be prepared for a very different game from the original.
