Tony does it again | | B1G K3V from Manchester UK says (6/Jan/2004): | Tony hawks underground produces the goods yet again, great gameplay, task orientated stats instead of just buying them, loads of levels to both be unlocked and found (for retro levels) fab! and the slam jam skate park rules! Great moves and the adition of the create trick is a great idea (maybe a little unrealistic but isnt most of tony?) The one thing i was a little put out about was the poor rendering of the cars, but hey, you cant have everything! Thug online play well, what can i say? and my skater looks like me! how cool is that! Almost every aspect can be personalised, from the face, body, right down to the socks and the proportion of the entire body! And my skateboard with my name across it in red against the black and yellow stars! if you dont own it already i recomend you add it to your collection NOW!
| This Games Is Awsome | | Matt Michelson from Phoenix, Arizona says (12/Apr/2004): | This Game is awsome...i've had it since round x-mas time and thats when i first played it ....then i bougt it for x-mas...Pretty Much everyday i come home do my h/w play tony hawk then go out and skate...ya i love how u can walk and drive cars man are those great features....Its also awsome how skate sponsors go after u and u do real compititions to try and get sponsored by zero or element or something...on of the other fantastic things is the videos of the peeple in real life.. like rodney mullen, tony, and Bam those were all great videos...I'm glad u like put Levels from Tony Hawk 2 in...The thing i dont like is how come u made the gaps so hard to find... like cuz i need 3 more gaps there like imposible...But this game is great and definitely worth the $$$...I'm so glad man i cant wait till u make a THPS 5... even to this day and this very sec. im playing it no joke its just way to fun to pass up...and who ever that person was who was like this games sux man get a life this games awsome...not all games are realistic...this one is only some parts...i understand the 360 flip on the ground but hey its suppose to be the kinda game where its impossible to land a trick...LOOK the games AWSSSOOMMMMEE... man my dad bougt me a t.v we hook up in the Rolls Royce and when we head to Florida or California...Thats a TO do list is PLay THUG...I play other games man ive beaten this game 19 times...and it still is never boring...ACTIVISION and NEVERSOFT/ TONY HAWK... thanx for making all these thps games for kids all round the world to play there awsome...

Ugh, I think I'm gonna hurl!The different difficuties is cool, too easy[^_^], beginner, normal, and sick[that's me] changes everything!1st a track, then comes money, then no money[seems easier], then the "ching" "ching" comes back but you talk to people, then this!? What's next?!Jumping out of helicopters, going on an actual"moving" cruise[not like the one in thps3], and and and motorcycles???[I think I'm addicted to skateboarding]The bad part is when you drive a car, when you get out, you appear where you got in!Why can't you leave it where it was when you stopped. That's probably gonna happen in Tony Hawk's Undergroundx or something like that.I never play a tony hawk game without making a original character. That is why thug is "DA BOMB" over all other video games. My top 2 favorite parts are Create Goals and Create Park, or create city!![hehehe].
| THUG is the Definitive Extreme Sports title | | Doggman from Vice City, FL says (16/Feb/2004): | Tony Hawk... Tony Hawk... Before the THPS series (and the Simpsons 300th episode) I don't really think anyone knew much about him. And yet, he has spawned 4 great extreme sports games, and one simply amazing one, THUG is a brilliant, addictive game and I'll tell you exactly why:
Gameplay 10/10:
Addictive gameplay, with more flips, grabs, manuals, grinds, etc than you'll probably even be able to pull off at the end of the day. When you start off, you get 20,000 points, and think, wow, that's brilliant! And with practice, you soon end up collecting as much as 5,000,000 from x100 tricks. Not to mention the fact you don't have to put up with those ugly skaters like Bobby B and old Bony himself, you can create your own skater to play with, hey, you can even put your own handsome mug on your skater, cool huh? And there's the create-a-deck, park or trick to have fun with. And for THPS fans, you can get off your board and walk, and even though the driving bits are really bad, you can walk (jog)! You can even do cave man tricks, where your skater gets on his boards and tricks at the same time, getting more points, cool or what?
Lifespan 10/10:
If you can complete the long, challenging story mode on sick mode, and complete 129/129, then you can still just skate for the fun of it, and get high scores and stuff. It's got years of life in it, trust me.
Graphics 8/10:
Decent enough character animation, though the buildings look murky and really juist there to get in your way, not for display or anything, and the water hasn't really got as much effort as it should. We expect more from the graphics of 2004, most games have moving hair these days. But they're still great graphics, just more, brilliant 2003 graphics maybe... Who cares...
Sound 9/10:
Rock and punk do my head in, so I turned the entire Rock and Punk selection off! You can do that now! So I only have to listen to Hip Hop! That's great! And as for each type of Music, you get roughly 20 songs which is great. The skate boards make really realistic noises, and change on different surfaces. But you can't choose your create-a-skaters voice... Now my tough, black gangsta sounds like a wimpy sk8er punk... Oh well...
All in All: Buy it! Now! If you ain't got it, get!
| The Tony Hawk Series Only Gets Better And Better | | odalis "nemesis" bostic from Reading, Massachusettes says (6/Nov/2003): | To begin my review i would just like to congradulate Tony Hawk and the makers of the Tony Hawk series for staying on top of their game. When I got this game i thought that it would be the same as the others, with the exception of new levels and better graphics. Well, I was right on 2 out of 3. There are new levels and also some old. The graphics are beautiful compared with the already excellent graphics from the other Tony Hawk titles. But there so many other things to do in this game. And just with online gameplay its a must have title. This is one of those games that come second to none. The game has all the things you would want in a skatebording game and more. The Tony Hawk series only gets better and better no if's, ands' or but's about it. The best of the best. I mean what other game lets you put "your" actual face on a character (monster rancher 3). I give this game 10 out of 10. Im not recomending this game, Im telling you to buy it.
| buy it now! | | brad from West Midlands, England says (17/Jan/2004): | i think thug is da bomb you get to walk around, climb,hang,drive and obviously skate!the graphics rule you get to see blood, tombstones, hockey pucks, bum's houses, nut vendors, beach balls, milk bottles and pineapples.you also hear the sound of pain, a car and a hooker getting down to buisness.the bad thing about thug is it is too unrealistic but its good how the levels are linked together.at first i thought it was going to be a copy of thps4 but i was so wrong!theres online mode(firefight rocks), you have to earn your stats, you can find different levels and create a deck, level and sk8ta.and although theres all that in it it still only takes 2 hours to complete all goals, stats, gaps and trick goals and all for 40 quid come on neversoft lower the price a bit!!! if you haven't got it buy it but wait a while for the price to lower.because it is like the grand theft auto of sk8tin' neversoft may make a pack with all 5 games in 1 now thats a must have!!!!!!!!!!

I also loved the cheats you can unlock. I love getting off the board and walking around. It is fun to create your own deck, levels, players, and tricks. If your going to buy a new game, buy THUG. | Fun! | | aeglos0 from Wanakee, USA says (21/Feb/2004): | This game was very fun! Most of the goals were easy to accomplish. For me, I was stuck on the one were you had to jump over the bridge. Don't know why you would have to do that, but okay. The graphics were realistic! I loved the idea of having your skater get more and more battered over time. Voice acting was good, too. Most games don't have that. I found driving the cars and walking a great feature! That really was an advance! Now I can explore levels more easily, and don't have to brake my skateboard to look at stuff.
My biggest problems were not finding codes to get all the levels for freeskating, but that makes sense. Also the faces in create a skater are kind of odd looking. It would be really cool to be able to design your own face without having to download it. I noticed that Erik always got into trouble. After a while I got sick of pulling him out of trouble over and over and over. Oh well.
But overall I really enjoyed playing. It was better than the first couple. I liked some of the newer features and park building is so much more enjoyable! when I get the chance i plan on buying it!
| The Best Tony Hawk Yet | | Travis says (7/Jul/2004): | I have to say this would have to be the best Tony Hawk game yet.
While I think the game is great; there are also some things that some of you might dislike. First of all the game is extremly short and if you are an expert at the other games you could even beat it three or four times in one day. Another one of the things you might dislike is that the levels really haven't gotten any bigger in size (some of them are smaller than in Tony Hawk 4). Also the game is less colorful and the levels are a bit depressing because the buildings all look grimmy and old while sewage pipes are leaking all over town. Lasty the game isn't as innocent as the Tony Hawk Pro Skaters and you might want to consider weather it is appropriate to give this to a young child.
Now we get to the good news. This is a feature that no one will hate: improved graphics. The levels are also more realalistic and there are more goals in each of them. Also there is a new story line where you start off as a young teen whos dream is to become a pro skater oppose to the other games where you just go around and mindlessly skate. You can even get sponsers later on in the game when you become an am and make your own board graphics when you become a pro. Lastly you can play this game again and again and never get board of it (I myself have beat it about 20 times).

Then I actually played it and it was like WOW! I love aspect of getting off of your board and actually walking around. Plus, the voice acting is great and the goals are challenging but, not to hard. You can also go online and skate and even put your own face onto a custom skater! IF that's not exciting enough you can even make your own level with your own goals. I highly reccommend buying it, especially if you have online capabilities.

The story mode is a nice addition to their arsenal of weapons. The music isnt like the origina ones like in 2 but its ok. The videos of the skaters are kool. Always hard never soft. But what aould be kool for tony hawk games is mix underground with gta3. The main character could be a skater and a gang member or something. They could tone down the violence for the little kids but it would be ausome. DIe hard fans of both like me would be so pleased. Hey neversoft! Hook up with rockstar and make an unbeatable game.

They gave me the ability to do nothing.Ironman was pretty tight however I liked the Kiss level. The ATV was cool but every time you get air it goes out of balance.The Cars were well done but there was nowhere to drive around I was always going out of balance and getting dumb remarks made at me like you suck dude go home and cry. The Evil Tiki was my favorite part of the game but the reward was Venice from THPS2 which SUCKED.Vancoover had the most stuff to do.I would of liked it if this one had more secret areas like on THPS2.I did like braking through the windows however. Also I liked the game but skating is boring its just a bunch of metrosexual sissy goth people falling down and braking bones you guy should go work instead of waisting your time on a skateboard. If any of you skaters that are afended by this want a fight come to Juniper Park in Maspeth and do something about it.

I never would have thought that it would have been possible to make a game so awesome. I thought that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 was good, but this knocks all the other skateboarding games out! I really liked the new skate as you not a pro because it extends and shows people what it would be like to be a pro. I also liked the getting off of your board thing. That also extended the tricks and things you can do. If you want a really good skateboarding game that can actually take you into the game, this is the one you need to get. One last thing is that you can download your face into the game so you can actually pretend that you are yourself. The only thing wrong with this game is that they hadn't thought about making it sooner.

Here is a insight into T.H.U.G so hold on and get ready for the skate of your life.
T.H.U.G has now learnt how to walk and you even get to explore entire levels by foot but be mindful about the timer whilst doing combos.
And believe it or not you can drive now so you drive,skate and even walk around grandtheft style.
There is a level were you chase some gangsters in a hotrod car.
Yes it is not as good as Colin mcrae 4 but that is understandable because it is not a racing game it is a skating game witch has brought in other methods of play.
Other good things about T.H.U.G is that you can use your own face and this is how you do it:
Well you take a photo of your face using a digital camera or a mobile phone then send it to the Neversoft website: thugonline.com
then they should send you back a memory file through your ps2 online network.
The online play is great you can even customise tricks,pick hand designed board graphics and to top it all of you will be able to trade homemade skate parks.
Even if you have not got online functions you can still create your own likeness using the skate edit tools, there is a wide selection of things you can do to your created skater,mohoicans,nose,lips and even change the size of the forehead.
To get off your skate board and stroll around G.T.A style all you have to do is press L1+R1 simultaneously and your skater will pop his board into his hands.
The old skool tricks are still their and you can grind down 70ft cables and do massive ten trick halfpipe combos.
While the old tony harks games were a series of unrelated levels T.H.U.G uses a story like structure.
As before you have to work your way up to sponsors and travel the world earning your respect points.
You will still have to nail a number of your tasks to move through each area but you do not have to find every last secret.
There is something for everyone in T.H.U.G if you like gameplay hard put it on hard if you like it easy then put it on easy what ever you choose there are four difficulty levels to pick from.
Objectives are alot more diverse than tony harks 4 but i will not spoil it for you by telling you all of them.
Well hitting high scores to inpress,sneaking past junkies to retrieve stolen goods,learning old skool tricks from oriental chefs and driving cars till they over heat are just afew objectives for now.
There are no more fiddly stat points you have to pull big tricks and hold them for longer for your skills to get better and it is a more natural manner of gameplay.
The game play is continues you will never get bored.
The graphics are truly great no other word can describe them.
sound quality is good you hear ever grunt, fall and the surroundings you are in at that time.
If this game has a life span then it is going to be around a very long time.
