Manhunt is just that...a game out of control. Manhunt is bloody, violent and sick. Surprising that a game has taken so long to come out.
You take control of Cash-a con on death row-and embark on a murderous and gory spree all with the approval of Mr Starkweather. The learning process is pretty hard to grasp but given time and expectation of gore it definately is worth it. Hunters eventually get smarter, faster and quicker.
Despite its repetive nature the game has enough going for it to keep you entertained such as the voice acting, strutting of gangs and occasional bursts of mad laughter make this game realistic enough to send tiny ice shivers through your blood.
In closing the game is brilliant enough to always remain as a leader in its genre. A gory buy that keeps you salivating for more.

This is the best game i have ever played. the gameplay is amazing, plus the graphics are mint too. at first when i got this game i thought the controls were rock but after a while i realized they were easy. chopping people heads off and ramming crowbars into people's skulls is brill. especially when you sneak up behind them with knives then ram it into their face 2 times!!!!!!!! if you love blood thirsy games then this is the game 4 u!! even though this game is banned it is still the best game ever made! the only downside on this game is that the men can't see you in the shadows even though they are 3 feet away from you (Which isn't very realistic) well forget about the downsides to the game, everything else is PERFECT!!!!!! i wish they could make a manhunt 2, that would be to good to be true a definate 10/10!!!!

THE IDEA BEHIND THE GAME IS THAT YOU KILL PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT WEAPONS (EACH WEAOPN, EXCEPT THE GUNS, HAS THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF KILLS). THE MORE GRUESOME THE EXECUTION, THE BETTER YOUR STAR RATING AT THE END OF EACH LEVEL. THE GAME IS BASSED ON MOVING THROUGH SHADOWS AND HAS A STEALTHY THEME, BUT LATER ON WHEN GUNS MAKE THEIR APPEARENCE, THE GAME GETS VERY FUN. THE GAME HAS MANY GANGS, EACH GANG HAS DIFFERENT WAYS OFF ATTACKING YOU. THE HOODS (DUMB WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER GANGS) DONT DO MUCH TO ATTACK YOU. THEY MAINLY WALK AROUND, AND ATTACK YOU WHEN THEY SEE YOU. AS THE GANGS CHANGE THEY GET MORE CUNNING, UNTIL YOU GET TO THE 'CERBERUS' THEN ITS VERY HARD TO MAKE A STEALTH KILL (THEY WATCH OUT FOR EACHOTHER AND CHECK BEHIND THEIR BACKS OCCASIONLY). THIS GAME HAS GOOD GRAPHICS, NOT THE BEST, BUT STILL GOOD, THE GRAPHICS ARENT GREAT BUT THEY DONT NEED TO BE BECAUSE THE GRAINY FEEL OF THE SURROUNDINGS HELPS STRENGTHEN THE RUND DOWN FEEL OF CARCER CITY. THE SOUND IS TOP NOTCH AND THE VOICE ACTING IS SOLID, AND AT TIMES, VERY FUNNY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET TO THE PART WITH THE MENTAL PAITIENTS WHO THINK YOU ARE A GUEST AT A PARTY, A SHOE THEIF, OR A MAN WHO THINKS HIS NAME IS FUG, ECT, ECT. THE GAME IS VERY GOOD AT MAKING YOU JUMP AND EXCPECT GALONS OF BLOOD ABOUND.... I RECCOMEND THIS GAME. 9/10

this game is $#< remove me > at !ing awsome i mean taking a sickle and nuturing a hunter is the best besides the machete or the knife my favorite stealh kill is with the axe when he taps them on the shoulder then swings the axe right in to there face then pulls it out and u hear the hunters skull crack and i like the fact of the cussing like "He's hiding like pussy a little scardy cat" then you go and kill the hunter in a very grusome way for payback the funniest level is mouth of madness because insane freaks say $#< remove me > at !ed up $#< remove me > at ! like "No more hide!" and "Harry were have u been i was worried to death " and the strange thing is there men ?! woah and the fact that rockstar made a kick ass game like this is totally awsomeso whoever like's extreme levels of violence rent this game or hell even buy it

great game lots of fun. little hard but i can deal with it.
lots of blood and gore.its great.i have never played a game like it.it is a one of a kind game that you would have to play to see how great it really is.i need some codes with out having to get the five star ranking. any help? if so e-mail me. im stuck on a mission and it is driving me nuts.and i am so close to beating the game.by the way the grarhics are ok but i have seen better.

It's bloody! It's hard! It's sickening! But there is no doubt about it that Rockstar's new project is great fun. Rockstar North/DMA have done it again. It's no Vice City but you'll still be playing way into the time of the release of the new GTA. It's a great appetiser. Anyway on to this baby's features. The graphics on Manhunt are one of the best on PS2. But we are talking about Rockstar here, I didn't really think they would be crap. The whole game is set at night but the idea is that the game is set over one night so Manhunt gets away with that. Oh yeah, the story. You play James Earl Cash. This guy is one mean mother. He is on death row and is getting ready to be executed when the story starts. Anyway, Cash gets the injection and we all assume he is dead. Surely R* can't make a game about a dead guy? Well... Cash ain't dead. He has been given some drugs that just knocked him out and made people think he is a goner. He then wakes up in a darkened room with a mystrious voice booming out at him. This guy turn out to be The Director, aka Starkweather. He films a series of snuff films and sells them on the black market making a fortune. Starkweather now wants Cash as his next star in his latest project. A snuff film involves a guy fighting and killing a group of gangs who are after his blood. Your task is to survive through the night. With a huge range of kills and each kill specially filmed on a grainy CCTV moniter it is very realistic. Also you can use a headset in Manhunt where if you generate any noise through the voice commander then the bad guys will hear you and come get you. Cool! Overall this game is just fun. The sound element is great, graphics essential and the gameplay is very addictive and replayable. With two diferent difficulty levels and five style rankings to achieve each level it is preety much guaranteed you will spend a long time on this game. In short, buy it!

This game is the best game i have ever played in my life ,the missions are not the best in the world. the grapics are great better than the simpsons road rage.
I would recomend this game to anyone because it is the best.

The game is like GTA but simpson style apart from the story line is totally diffrent .
some of the cars are crap because it dos'nt take long for them to blow up and you lose coins for it
like the simpsons road rage you still have the basic simpsons cars like the plow king,family car,the school bus and loads of others

Not a very good story line but the pure gore makes up for this!!!
For example...You can pull off a guys jaw with a crowbar or gut a man with a sickle!!! not bad eh! The amazing graphics make this game more realistic which also makes the deaths more realistic, so anyone with a weak stomach - SOD OFF NOW!!!
This game beats GTA by a long shot...in terms of killing i mean.
I only play this game to mutalate some poor sods face or hack away at his neck with a mechete! Basically if your favourite colour is red then you're gonna LOVE this game!!!

one if not the most violent games i have ever seen if rockstr was looking to throw us a bone while waiting fro the next grand theft auto i think they hit the nail right on the head!this is a game that anyone with a penchant for slasher films can appreciate! invite your friends over just to show them how brutal the killings are! i love manhunt and have finished the game already a little lacking in the replay factor what i want to know is of there is any way to use the codes without having to get a 5 star rating pleae help!!>......

I do agree that it was a good slasher game but its to damn bloody plus you play it for a fyew hours and then you just go and get your copy GTAVC or GTA3 and it makes you realize how much of a one time deal the GTA searise was the underlined story is Rockstar please dont make another stick with GTA your beter off please make GTAVC2 This game was such a bad idea thay would of been better off making a sports game or a $#< remove me > at !in girl game why couldnt you had made a jason game or a texas chainsaw game

To all of the people who said that it was too slow or boring: im sure that R* made manhunt the kind of game that takes a while to beat and you need to use stealth for a purpose. you can all bitch and whine about how cash is a pussy but put urself in a dark city containing gangs with sickles, meatcleavers, shotguns and pistols. Not only that the gangs are completely crazy. A member of the innocent talks about how he will stop yelling if you come out of the shadows(probably related to a family member beating). If R* wanted to make another GTA based game they would have. But why do that? They made a game that OBVIOUSLY isnt for everyone. The people who do like it, like it a lot. I found the graphics to be very well put together. The city that cash is in is HUGE. They put in every slight detail that can be found. If you are getting your ass kicked, maybe you suck at the game, enough said. R* did a very good job, in all areas.

I rented MAnhunt and at first, i was a little pissed cause i didnt know what to do. But, after learning how to do everything, i think its a really good game. The graphics are very well done, the sound is phenomal, and the action is well done. I enjoy how easy the stealth aspect is, its just trying to fend off the enemies thats the hardest. The enemies r pretty intellegent and can surprise u, scaring the crap out of u also! Overall, a very good game thats pretty difficult but thats what makes the game worth going back to. Worth buying, hey i did.
p.s: THat guy that stated tyhat gothich poeple that enjoy killing, i have friends who r into that and that is way beyond what they enjoy so dont give a stereotypical remark about a type of cliques if u dont know know the person.

To people who love to rent games or like to purchase them on a daily day to day basis should buy "Manhunt." The game it self has a great story line, and plenty of intense violence to keep your hurt pounding like a drumb. The langauge on the other hand is extremely outrageous for soft core types. What can I say though a man being chased down wanted dead for a second time by physcotic gangs. Interesting as it seems those gangs do look pretty freaky though. Overall, I am pleased with this game because it gives us a view of what Winston went through in the Film "Big Brother" which was a controversial film, as like this game is today. You find this game behind store counters because it's worth as much as gold with the quality sound grafics, excellent game play and yet difficult to defeat even on easy mode. So if your a fan of violence, and interested only in games with a good story line, and extreme cursing 24:7 through out then this is the game for you. Play On Rock Star Soliders!

I think Manhunt is one of the greatest and most exciting games to ever be released onto the ps2. Rockstar have certaintly hit the top with this game. Manhunts smooth graphics, and much gore and violence, make this game quite enjoyable to play. The lifespan of this game is quite long because of constant parts of the game which take quite a lot of logic and effort to get through them, also the fun factor of this game is very high because of the constant array of blood and violence makes this a classic game of our time. I think more games like this should be brought out, so we can once expericence the thrill and excitement once again. i recommend this game to any gamer who loves violence and gore with smooth graphics and scary audio traits in a game.

i thought that GTA was violent cause you can kill, steal, and blow up people and cars. but when i played manhunt, i was shocked because it was like playing a banned from tv episode, this will definitely give you nightmares. either the music, the killings, or the city itself will affect you in some way. everything about this game is perfect, Rockstar couldn't have done any better on this game than they already did. but i do not recommend this to kids, 17 and older, vice city was violent but manhunt is mind altering violent. you need to have a taste for violent games to like manhunt, and little kids do not want to see these grisly images. the graphics is ok, the only thing phony is the rats, but it's not that big a deal. the gameplay is a 10, violent and funn at the same time. so violent you'll laugh at the way you kill these people, and the sound is also a 10, everything sounds real. the value is a 8, because it is worth keeping if you like games like this, but yet the lifespan is a 7. some people might play it over and over again, some won't since the game is 20 levels. but the game is intense, from the violence to the music, and if you are the type of person who has the stomach for brutal killing and a challenge at the same time, this is the game that i recommend for you, 17 and older that is

I was a little sceptic about buying this and slightly dissapointed at first but by GOD! Was i wrong. F**K Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, this is the best stealth game EVER!!! It is scary because people like the hunters really exist, unlike Resident Evil's zombies. Its scary as F**k and realistic.It has lifespan,atmosphere and graphics as crisp as Walkers. This is Rockstar's crowning achievment. Anyone, ANYONE! Who thinks this is S**t should be blungeod to death with a bat. BUY IT!!!!!The Smileys are terryfying, and the Skinz are extremely disturbing.BUY IT!!

Wow this game is insane. Manhunt is one of the best games to come since GTA. Manhunt makes GTA look cartoony and childish. I absolutly love it. Its grapic and audio reality make this game some thing spectacular.This game definatly takes gaming up a knotch. With real easy controls and gameplay manhunt is a game that will knock your socks off. Dude with hunters out to kill you and your self on the run fighting back and bruitialy executing the hunters this game is one to be loved.Rockstar is insane. The first day i got this game i was totally in love with it. The missions or "scenes" arn't totally hard or totally easy.
But they are extremly fun. Just try playing the game at 1:00a.m with the lights off, drapes closed, and door shut, I t will make you have nightmares. The games bloodyness and gore are amazing. The stealth gameplay also makes it fun. I think that no children should be within 100 miles of this one. I also know that if your gonnia buy the game make shure you buy a bag too, cause your gong to be sick!
CONCLUSION: this game kicks butt
it is definatley a game to buy, i'd personally give the game a 10,10 being the best, cause this games graphics are intense along wth the audio. MAnhunt is definatly one of a kind.

yes i really have to give rockstar a round of applause for taking the next step down their path of stardom. even though the game lacked almost everything. do not get it twisted, manhunt was a very good game for this era, but someone has to take the next video game to a new level. i am sick and tired of seeing all of these half ass jobs that come out of these so called top of the game corporations and co. i mean rockstar too in this upcoming year with all of the technology of man the only thing "i mean the only thing" hot for the year 2004 should be virtual reality or hollagraphic interactive projection game play

I had a feeling this game would be good, but I was wrong, Manhunt is amazing! The plot is incredible, similar to the movie Surviving the Game. One of the coolest features about this game is that the noise you make actually effects gameplay. For example if you accidently knock over a trash can near a hunter, that hunter will become alert and go to see what made that noise.
Another cool feature is the weapons, you can use anything from plastic bags and crowbars, to full out shotguns and nailguns. And when you put your weapon away you can actually see it on the character. Stealth kills helped the game out a lot too.
Is Manhunt perfect? No. The hand to hand fighting could have been a little more in depth and there isn't as much replay value as say True Crime or GTA, but these are minor flaws, barely affecting the games awesomeness.I would definitley reccomend this game. Gamers wont be dissapointed

Two words to describe this game, F**King Awesome. I have never played such an amazing game. Violense is my thing and this game doesn't disappoint. There's no better feeling on earth than ramming a crowbar into the spine of your opponent, semi-paralising them, as they fall to their knees inserting the crowbar into their skull.
The bad language used is incredible to boot. I don't know how Rockstar got away with it.
They knew they had some work to do to create a game on par with GTA3 and Vice City and in some ways I think they did. As far gameplay goes there isn't much wrong, although waiting for the execution target to turn red is a drag some times. As someone mentioned earlier the enemy AI could have been slightly better e.g. a hunter can't see you if your in shadows, even from three feet away.
Thats enough down sides to the game, everything else is perfect, especially the story. I found it to be one of the most original game story lines ever, without straying to far from the real world.
