well it was good..... | | wrestle me from auckalnd, new zealand says (25/Dec/2003): | dont get me wrong, i love wrestling. man i live for it. but this game is just not what i expected. ended up buying it so i could make heaps of wrestlers from the past and present. wcw guys, ecw guys, wwf guys, indy guys...you get the point. i have 6 memroy cards now full of wrestlers. most i made. but some i got in the net. a big caw fan really. well my point is..tis game should have been better. come on yukes. really. wats up with you guys. give us what we want. i know that you guys know it. and you could do it. so what are you waiting for? smackdown 10? ps5? come on. well i just hope the next one wont just be a caw making game for me. i play all my caws. really. they are really great. i try to make my own story. coz season sucks as. repeats too much. well i played it so many times already. maybe thats why i kinda grew out of it. well to be honest, it's really the best wrestling game out there. but it's not really good enough.......sad......ps...i love creating things. a create a move thing would be sooooooooooooooo good. really. i know it's gonna be so hard. but you could do it yukes. i have so much fate in you guys. don't let me down again. pls. pls. pls.

I personaly think thant herre comes da pain is a very detailed game, very realistick ,but the legends, awful. Andre The big guy, Hulk Hogan, Brett Hart, MICK FOLEY THE HARDCORE LEGEND a.k.a.Mankind. Instead they put what??? Rowdy Rowdy Piper??? What did he do that was so great?? Mick jumped off a cell and into a table!!! Im disapointed about that. Ill give the playabilities a 9 and a half on ten. The half off is for the specials.??? U could only have 2 4 1 superstar?? Thats stupid. Another thing is that like I said, there is some superstars that are missing. I could see that the Entry movies were rushed, everything goes to fast, in the elemanation chamber, when u throw the guy in the window. he bounces rite off, instead of going in?? Now the good side. Awsome graphics (Shawn micheals is the only default with his over sized chest), moves are all detailed, in shut your mouth, lets say the sweet chin music was only the superkick, but now he stomps, and thats all I gotta say. If there will be a smackdown 6, make al the great legends and not an old guy that payed to be in the game!!! And put ALL the super stars in side Thx

| Wheres the pain?!? | | AndRe from USA says (25/Dec/2003): | The game here comes the pain is pretty good, but the game has no theme for the ledgends...thats so retarted...they also have new charcters..and more matches but they are missing a lot of charcters like too cool, jeff, zach, FBI, billy kidman and gunn, APA, basham bros, gail kim, mark henry, spanky, william regal, hardcore, molly, i mean like...WTF!!!! and in the ledgends...they dont $#< remove me > at !ing have hogan or mankind!!! they are mad legends!!!!!!!!!! but even though kane is unmasked, if u purchasew his attire, u can put his mask on..kwel...u can also make ur charcters aswell...u can make jeff hardy..but he is made too weak...and u dont have the swantom bomb....they are also missing some ppls new theme songs...for example: kanes new song, lance storm, victoria, rvd, and some other...this game has a lot of great stuff...but also is missing many stuff....but the entrance motions are very similar like the undertaker with the motorcycle, or kane with the cloth, or jericho with his moves or goldberg with the kicks or goldust with the clothes or matt hardy with the V1 entrance...but it is ppretty good...and pppl bleed...nice, they also have better storylines but they are rilly short...and they have all sorts of different srtufff like eliminaton tag, or chamber or all those PPVs, they even have time square!!! awesome....

| Yeah pretty good, but not the best | | Amelio from Sydney, Australia says (20/Dec/2003): | WWE smackdown 5 here comes the pain is a good game, but could be improved in a much bigger way, first i'll go through the bad bits. There are numerous superstars missing, i.e. Hulk Hogan, Molly Holly etc. The entrances are way way to short, for example when eveloution comes into the ring, it usually takes them ages to come out in real life, but in this game, they are quick, pop in the ring even before that really annoying guy starts singing their anthem. Also alot of the entance music was sadly ungettable, e.g Smackdown producers could not gain, RVD- One of a kind, Stacey Keibler-Legs, Kane-Slow Chemical, Dudley Boys entrance, Victoria's song, and a couple of more. Also they may wanted to have put forward some better Legends, i.e the Honky Tonk Man, noone wants to see Vladimir whatshisname. Season mode is kinda repeditive, and really does not follow any structure, and gets boring! And yes the commentry has alas ceast, which is kinda sad in a way, but what is even more sad is the fact that they dont even have a ring announcer!, they come in without any kinda introduction, and it doesnt seem real anymore, Smackdown 4 was much better in this department. Now there are many posotives to come out of this game also. By the fact that some entrances are FANTASTIC, for example, Matt Hardy version 1 is exactly the same as in real life, and has a different Matt quote each time, also now some of the moves will actually conect with the superstar. i.e in smackdown 4 a dropkick off the top rope would lead to nothingness, but they have fixed it up so that it does cause damage. Also i love the fact that in submission moves there is a gauge which you have to press hard to reach the ropes etc. Graphics have obviously enhanced in quite a way also. One thing I must say is that Goldbergs moves are awesome! the spear looks so unreal, and leaves you cringing just at the site of it. They have made it now harder to win the royal rumble which is good, because in Shut Your Mouth, you could win from the number one postition with Stacey Keibler no sweat, but it would be mighty difficult to do it in this one. The fact that you can work on a particular part of the body is also a plus in my books. All in all a pretty good game, but there will be still more to fix for the next Smackdown game, which i hope will live up to the series and reveloutionise the gaming industry

And Hollywood Hulk Hogan's dissapeared. I know the Create modes alot better with more items of clothing, also colours and patterns. The only downfall to the CAW mode is the ladies. They've spent so much time doing the mens that they've left all the garbage for the girls. You cant even play CAW girls in bra and panties; boo hoo! Because I had created this girl with weird underwear, but I couldn't see it! The characters are alot more detailed, i mean on Smackdown 4 Brock Lesnar looked like he had a mixture of spots and german measels! The Rock is well cool now, being a movie star and all, and having the Undertakers current music is awesome too! 136 There is a wider range of characters including Rey Mysterio 619 619!!! and Goldberg's in it. The weird thing in season mode is Chris Jerico. In his match he is shaved and normal, then when he comes out from backstage he has his weird beard and he looks totally different! Season mode is only one year instead of two, but after the year when you start again with the same person it goes through bthat black-and-white answer thing when you've alrady got the answer.

| pretty good | | osama bin ladin from baghdad, Afganastan says (20/Dec/2003): | yea, this games pretty good. the matches kick ass (like the elimination chamber and the casket match), and the roster is 'ok' there are still alot of ppl that should have been in it, like shannon moore and shane o'mac (also were is mick foley!), and there are some ppl that im happy that they r not in it, like zach gowen and hulk hogan. but dont get me wrong there were still a few downfalls. season modes good but it lacks 2 player capability (which raw2 has). also your always losing SD points for the stupidist reasons. the stuff in season mode takes way too long to save up to buy (its already hard to get beat an oppenent). plus the caw is soo similar to the other SD you really cant tell the difference. i mean its all the same stuff (and its almost impossible to make jeff hardy PLEZ HELP!) so... it has its pro's and it has its cons. if u ask me i would rent it first and c if u like it.
(p.s. hogan isnt really a downfall in the game. i dont know what some of the ppl were thinkin)

It sounds great i can't wait to make myself again and kick some ass for the wwe title, but it is a shame the wreslers voices are not included, and guess what you can't create women, oh and a question, do any wreselers shag or snog of somin? Back to the review as this HAS to be over 200 words long anyway the graphics look fantastic, Trish is lookin great as always, reply to my question please please please please. I like John Cena he is cool, you know i met him back stage and got his autograph. My stable will be me, John, Rey and meybe even Undertaker , i love his entrance music. My favorite move has to be the 619 its sooooo col, have you seen how far he flys of the top ropes, when i played on this at my friends house we made ouselves up and took on the dudleys in a tornado tag, but my mate was just about to use his special whe tfwaakk! i hit him with the chair pinned d'von and took the match for myself losing my mate 10 superstar points yes ten i was laughin my head off when he challenged me to a match, i kicked his ass the last move of the match 619 619 619 sealed his fate.

i remember smackdown 1! where you were able to name your own move and it appeared on the screen when you used it! that was freakin great! It was like you were an actual wrestler and everthing...i got to say ive been waiting a while until they decided to do that again. But i guess it wasnt that popular or something. But dudes...really....i had some pretty tight names for my moves like...Meet Myster Floor..and Myster D'Capitator! i mean really isnt that great!

I like that they did decide to make you be able to get better during the season..kind of gives you a reason to keep playing.

What would be really awseme though....would be if you could Make your own move...like making your own annimation...i would buy two Smackdowns if they did that, i dont know why i would buy two but i would be really happy if they did that.

I also disagree with the creators decision on what moves where more powerful...i feel if you want a special thats just a little kick then that should be as powerful as you want it...i mean come on..Hogan's is a leg drop and that was one of the most powerful moves!
oh yeah and the unlockable charracters were pretty dumb
but all in all the creative mode is great
Just need to be able to name your own move!!
| That wha i call the pain | | konrad from New York says (17/Dec/2003): | WWE Smack DOwn here comes the pain is the best wrestling game i ever played because first finally after raw and smackdown games were kind of seperated we finally can play with all the WWE superstars from Raw and Smackdown i also think that here comes the pain is much better than wrestlemania XIX for gamecube because of new great grappling and submission system. Divas look hot and we finally can play bra and panties match as well as first blood match. there is only one little thing that is not too good and this thing is Brock on the cover, i hate that guy he is so stupid and anyway he really SUCKS if you watch smackdown u now what i mean HE TAPPED OUT!! some flying moves are not too good but these are small mistakes, and finallly we can see normal looking people in the crow. Making wrestler is good exept they dont have too may masks. ok i have to put 200 words so i just be like Sable is hot lita is hot trish is hot but jazz is so ugly ugly ug;y ug;y ug;y ug;y ugly ygly ulgly
Very cool opotunity is to buy a legends characters like old school taker that is much stronger Jimmy superfly snuka that's what i call jumps.

Here comes the pain is a great game but it is missing a lot of things that makes the game that little bit more better. For instance, a player should be allowed to defend or win titles in exhibition mode( like the originals of SD 1 & 2). There should also be a multiplayer season mode as well as single player, because playing exhibition mode gets kinda boring after a while. Not to forget the little things like when a player has 2 or more titles he / she should come out with them instead of 1. The game should also feature the greats such as Bret and Owen Hart, Ken Shamrock, the Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Gorilla Monsoon etc. The additon of blood and the body damage were great additions to the game. The story mode was also the best yet but I believe that it is way too short and the fact that it is only single player takes alot of the fun out of the mode. All these little things help make the game real and better. And I think that THQ should start taking the views of the fans seriously when Smackdown 6 comes out.
| wwe smackdiwn,a great game but it could have been a lot better | | Clifton from Qormi says (15/Dec/2003): | wwe smackdown is one hell of a game in my opinion but like all other games it has some disadvantagrs.For ex,not all wrestlers r there.We can mention some of them like Billy Kidman,Shannon Moore,The Bashams,Matt Morgan,Nathan Jones,Spanky,Jeff Hardy,Paul London,Orlando Jordan,Shane oMac,Paul Heyman,Shaniqua,Hardcore Holly and others.Apart the absence of some wrestlers,the season had to be a lot better.Why I'm saying this?Simply because some more matches had to be included in the seoson like the buried alive match,coffin match(The one undertaker used in the past to bury his enemies) and others.Also,why in the hack the wrestlers created (females) cannot compete in the bra and panties match?I hope that Smackdown 6 will be a lot damn better!!!!Also I really wish that in the new one the gamers will be able to edit the original wrestlers like for example we'll be able to cut rikishi's hair or adding some hair to goldberg and all thiese sort of things.Also i hope to find the create a move set but not like the one in sd 5 but to be able to create my own finisher move.These are some of the things that I would like to see in the new one but apart from these smackdown 5 is great and the 10 + rating is worth it.What do u think???????So Smackdown can be described as one of the best games released in 2003!!!!!!

I made a Ninja Wolf thats 5,3 made him skinny as possible and as black as it can be. I made him all kicking moves with Ultimo Dragan ,Rvd Moves and Eric Bisoff moves ,then added all biting moves George "The Animal" Steel and made him a lightweight with no moves where u can pick him up ,with a Super Ninja finishing move and Million Dollar Man Sleeper. My Ninja Wolf has a rating of 83 so far thru the season mode were u can build your wrestler stonger with Speed,Strength,Technical, and Endurance were u can pick between 1-10 on each skill all my skills are at 8.5. I tried to make The Blue Blazer Aka Owen Hart but I cant find The cape in create mode like Smackdown Shut your Mouth had,game is so realistic with face expressions and muscles flexing. You can Create Hulk Hogan,Ulimate Warrior, with there exact moves on Here comes the Pain and over 75 other wrestling already with pre sets for moves.Your cannot make a female in Create Mode to let the females wrestling thats one of the main reasons i bought the game. But,I will live with out it. I think,just kidding. The blood is so funny when my Ninja looking wold gets bloody. They must of not added lots of certain wrestlers because the dont fight enough on TV.I can see why they added all the ledgends on the game cause i know they all had lots more matchs then Hulk Hogan ever did how he just defended his belt like once a month, then like how WWE is now then back in the early 80,s when Hogan beat the Iron Skeik for the first time. After that all Hogan did was only defended belt barly while Hillbilly Jim was on ever week wrestling.Season Mode is alot funner this time also saves your records up too 200 matchs on each wrestler. I give this game a 9 and will play it 3 times a week until the next one comes out, For the next game i want to see improvement on making the female on the game give a realistic lapdances or something laater just kidding

| Good and the bad. | | Gordy from Norwich, England, United Kingdom says (14/Dec/2003): | Smackdown is a great game as it has great new moves, matches e.t.c But there is a lot of great things from other games that are missing such as being able to choke toss people out of the ring. Also cool wrestlers like Jeff Hardy or Hulk Hogan are missing, and you can't really create them because the create mode hasn't got the same create mode as the last game as in the last game, to create a wrestler that was missing, you just had to go on cheek and pick the same number, e.g 3 & 3. But there are some more good points about the game, fot instance the grapple mode is more enhanced from all the games also the ability to be able to pound the living hell out of your opponent until his face explodes with blood, which I think is quite rad. Also the season mode is pretty sweet but its downfall is that it repeats itself.
This reveiw was't aimed for people not to by the game, infact I advise you to buy it but all I am trying to say is that the game could have been far better.

1.for created characters cant u have a screen shot for there picture, i hate those blue bloody pictures to represent a created character.
2.there needs to be more moves with weapons and selected moves for going through tabbles, slamming peeps outside the ring, hitting with chairs, bats, etc... infact more weapons alround and y cant u pull up the protective mat around the outside of the ring. I geuss what would make smackdown great would be a when it became the one who could think up the most messed up brutal attacks to unleash on his/hers body!
3.there needs to be more superstars, the likes of shane O'mac, mick foley, zack gowen, hulk hogan, mr perfect, andre the giant, la resistance, jeff hardy, rosie and jemal to name but a few
4. i agree with having more matches but what i want to see is in season mode you can damage someone so much that they get hospitalised, it annoys me when ive beaten them to black and they still manage to get up and fight again, the same night!
altogether WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain rocks, its grappling system is the best, and the new moves and look is fab and with a couple of tweeks it cud b the best dam wwe game ever

The grapplin system is great and the character roster is never ending. I have had every single smackdown and by far this one is the best. its so in depth. the season mode really brings it alive. There is only one bad thing. Where is Mick Foley!! The best wrestler ever and not one glimpse of him. Any way, the sounds of the wrestlers hitting the mat is suberb and the way the camera moves around is wicked. Any high flyin move shows a slow mation camera angle. Gameplay rules. When you go through the season mode you make all the decisions ie. make a faction have a manager and if you get it right you can snog any diva you want.Creating a wrestler is another brilliantly thought out plan. You can put a funny mask on when you are entering the ring but when you start to fight it disapears and this is the main reason why it will never get boring. my PS2 will have to blow up before i stop playing it. Your whole life in a box for £30. I think its worth it 100% of the time.
