The real driving simulator |
| Taylor from Wales, UK says (14/Mar/2005): |
Gran Turismo 4, what can I say? It's the best driving simulator in existance bar none. I thought 3 was great but this go's up on a completely different level, with the crisp graphics and the way the game is layed out, not to mention the wealth of cars, tracks and many different championships theres no wonder they call it the real driving simulator.
I had a save file from gran turismo 3 and to get me started off on the right foot, GT4 allows you to transfer 100,000 credits over from GT3 so you can get a cracking car right from the start! how cool is that? You can also transfer things from GT4 Prologue, but i dont have that so i don't know what things you are able to transfer. One of the many new features I liked were that you can install Nitrous Oxide into your car to get that extra bit of speed on a straight!
So all in all a fantastic racing game that will not fail to impress even the gamers who are'nt fond of racing sims.
Graphics: 10
Sound: 9 (I gave it 9 because i dont like rock music, but they have house music on there too so im happy)
Gameplay: 10
Realism: 10
Overall GT4 gets a fantastic:10/10

gt4 has mint grapics but thats it |
| calzues wilkius from manchester says (17/Mar/2005): |
i bought gt4 a couple of days ago the graphics are mint but it hasnt got much realism and when you turn you fly off the track whats the point of that an the licenences are really hard an theres to much stuff ITS BORIN but its not that bad but the good stuff is that it lasts for ages and there i pure loads of cars but it takes ages to do summet on it. it is soooooo annoyin an plus it is really really unreallistic i av a nissan fairlady concept its fast has hell but i cant keep it on the road because it comes clean off the track when i do over 70 HOW GAY IS THAT.
|
i cant believe it |
| Ayhan from London,England says (18/Mar/2005): |
i have waited so long for this and now i have finally got it.Its by far the best ever driving simulator game ever to be made. The graphics are spot on along with the realism of the gameplay. This game has everything from old vw golf gti to the big monsters like the ford lightening 4x4.By far this is the biggest game out, its the biggest game ever made and will be for a long time trust me.also this games so much more to offer like NOS,body kits cars u never would of fought would be on a computer game so good as this. This game has about 700 cars (thats alot for ur garage) plus 50 new tracks. If this aint the best game of all time what is??????
|
THEY FORGOT THE SMALL REALISTIC THINGS |
| Joseph from Toronto, Ontario says (23/Mar/2005): |
I wouldn't bow down to this game for several reasons mind you I do agree with some of the ppl that say the same thing...grafics, cars, blah blah blah. 1. What's with the turn radius on these cars I understand low end class sure, but the "amazing cars...done up cars" they handle like a sleds! Most of the good cars and especially the expensive cars should be able to corner at more the 60mph; I've even had to stop at some corners in races in order to stay on track and I'm in an STI. I've test driven about 40% of the actual cars normal ppl could go and test drive at their local dealers and the handling in the game is shameful. 2. They should have really gone that one step further and included interiors when you drive in $#< remove me > at !pit mode, older arcade games have them...now wouldn't it be nice if you could actually see the interior of an S7 while you drive it? 3. Parts cost way to much and don't do a damn thing for handling. 4. We should have been able to put down payments on cars in the showrooms they change way to frequently and by the time you even attempt to make money to buy it, it's gone. 5. Should have had real time damage; that just makes 50% of a game for me, DAMAGE, then you'll see just how good you really are. Bottom line is, you want to drive in a "as real as it gets" simulation environment? BURNOUT 3! FORZA XboX good luck GT

luv it |
| A gamer from norwich says (30/Mar/2005): |
Gran turismo 4 is the best game ever, the graphics are good the cars are good, there is a wider selection of cars and the licences are easy peasy it is also the most fun game ever and if you get it from the right place the price is excelant.the tracks are different for example you get snowy tracks and on all the others they are all dry the cars are also alot faster and are realy easy to controll.also the people are real and are not flat the people also actually take pictures and come of the track and run infront of the car.

gt4 is da best it rules |
| A gamer from bristol,engaland says (30/Mar/2005): |
compared to gt3 and gt1 it is absouloutly amazing get action replay max and u can use cheats for it.it is a really good game.go on to play.com and u will find it there for a really good price!!!!!!.if u want u can look for cheats online as well.so i think u should always buy gt4 because it is a qulity, and as it says under gran turismo 4 sign on the box it is the ultimate driving simulator,it is so true.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!alsoit has very old cars like a ford model t tourer and some very newlike a nike 2022.the ford was made in 1915 and the realy old cars were made in 1885.

GT4 all good but could be better |
| chris from melbourne says (1/Apr/2005): |
First off the graphics are awsome the, the refelections, the detail even the rotors spining individually from the caliper the amout of detail is amazing. The graphics are the best ive seen hands down. Pitting in is a dream now with actuall pit crews. The only downside i have noticed is that the game cant really lay claim as the ultimate driving sim. Computer AI is pretty stupid they drive dumb in other words. Cars dont sound as good as they should n the music tracks suck. Thou all in all its a great improvement n really is what gt4 is what gt3 should have been. Still a driving game in a league of itz own

Great |
| A gamer from USA says (8/Apr/2005): |
GT4 is a great game and the reason some don't like it is because they suck and need to learn how to use the brakes. Other then that it has great graphics the backgrounds on some of the courses look great. There are tons of cars and parts to make them better. This game takes quite along time to complete i have been playing alot and am at 22%. This can entertain for hours and even if your not a very big racing game fan you can still enjoy it. I didn't like any racing games before this now I love it. Ypu should consider this game to buy it is truly great.

THIS IS SOOOO COOL! |
| Chantal B (tel) from NSW Australia says (9/Apr/2005): |
I got gt4 for Christmas and i have played it every day. it is soo funny because we do crap car races and that makes us laugh. i am not a playstation girl but when it comes to cars i love it.I especially LOVE GT4 for their graphics and music. If you were as crazy as me about GT4 you would laugh every time you got a slow car. My brother loves the Diahatsu truck cause it goes so slow but has the best steering. I love the lister because it goes so fast and it looks so cool. i also love the mmitsubishi before the last red one because it so fast. i hope ya have a gt5 soon. Thanxs for ya time Love tel

GT4, The best racer ever |
| Dawei from AUSTRALIA says (11/Apr/2005): |
I would like to say one thing to all the people out there who say the physics in gt4 are bad, YOU ARE GAY!!! Have you even played the game? All the cars I own have perfect turning and are completly realistic. If you think the physics are unrealistic, then you obviously have never driven a car before (probably because you suck so much), and I hope for everyones sake you never do!
Oh yeah GT4 is the best game EVER!!!
I own a WRX sti and it turn perfectly at 100 mph, what the hell have you guys done to your WRXs, if you screwed them up, I will find you and force a screwdriver into your eyes.
|
BAD!!!! |
| Kyle G. from Texas USA says (11/Apr/2005): |
This is for joseph from toronto.... This game is not all about the turning radius. This game is giving you the realistic drive. Sure there might be some mess ups but over all this game rocks. I believe you can handle the turning radius. Surely the cars and simulation will get better with time. I think this game is awsome and they should continue to make these games i have only played for one hour so far and Gran Turismo 4 is THE game to play for car lovers like me. Creators who can sencronize the old cars with the new and make them perform they way they do, deserve praise. There is nothing better than a famous classic car.
Although its not classic but my car of choice is the 2005 Mustang GT. I think its friggen SWEEEEEET!

Gran Turismo 4 Review |
| Jason Roberts from Stanley, North Carolina, USA says (11/Apr/2005): |
I think GT4 is the best racing game ever created. There was a lot of effort put into it and it shows. All racing cars from around the world that you can drive make this game sweet for racecar lovers like me.To me, its the closest to driving the real cars. I think the creaters of this game earned their money. I have had the game for almost a month and im about 70% done. After finishing GT3 2 years ago, I couldnt wait to get GT4, and it was well worth the price, and I hope they make a GT5 sometime in the near future!!!

excellent, but could be better |
| phantom penguin from new zealand says (12/Apr/2005): |
i couldn't wait untill gt4 came out, and when it did, i was there, i bought, got home and played it untill my hands and fingers ached. The graphics are flawless, the cars themselves are amazing, and the amount of stuff to do and buy is breath-taking. The down-side, the cars dont handle realisticly, i tried goin round an average hairpin at 80kph, and went flying off the road, i don't think so. The cars also sound different to the real life versions. And in every single gt game i have played, including gt4, gt3, gt concept, gt2 gt1, the mags on the cars (whilst racing)are 2D!!!!!!! superior graphics? even nfsu 2 has 3d mags even whilst racing. And why oh why did they take out the racing modification option from gt1, it was a favorite for spicing up your cars, while still reatining that racey look. The game is excellent, well werth the money, but if they put out gt5, please make those improvements o yeah, and CAR DAMAGE is a must!
|
AWESOME GAME! |
| Jared Duncan-Watt from Newcastle, Australia says (17/Apr/2005): |
Gt4 is an awesome game, the graphics are sweet as and the handling has stepped up a couple of notches too. Those people who complain of not being able to go through corners at over 70 have no idea what they are talking about and obviously aren't very good at the game. Must say I love the wide selection of le mans racers that are now available and the addition of the original nurburgring circuit, IT ROCKS!!! The one problem with the game is that someone dropped the ball when dealing with the units of power. If you change from BHP to KW it still gives you the same value which is completely wrong.

GT4 Has Very Realistic Handling |
| Dragon from Windhoek, Namibia says (20/Apr/2005): |
First of all, GT4 is the best driving game to date and its unbelievable how realistic games can get. I just want to say something about the ppl who sez GT4 does not have realistic handling, I drive a 1999 Nissan Skyline GTR and it handles EXACTLY the same in real life and in GT4, I've tested it over and over again and I even use GT4 for testing the capabilities of my real car and the results are very similar and accurate. Those that say the cars does not handle correctly should learn how to drive. Exellent work Polyphony!

ITS OK |
| streetracer from westport,ma says (1/May/2005): |
All you people writing these review have you ever play a racing game that wasnt a GT game? GT4 is a great car fix up game but as far as racin it its like watching fishing on tv as boring as hell for 4 hours untill you get one winner i think (( the best sim racing game in the world)) should well at leaset let the corvette or the saleen s7 handle turn at speeds faster then my brothers 1990 explorer can handle i am a real street racer ok and i have drivin a 03 evo 8 mr and the car is a lot faster in real life then in the game the evo 8 mr runs around 12s in the game we my brother truck would pervale again o and maybe its just me but for the worlds best racing sim game well i am no expert on this but i knwo when i hit a wall doin 211mph usaully my headlights dont still work fonza motorsports is 5 times what gt4 is o ya and u can play online too same cars almost the same track better handling o and when i hit a wall doin 211mph my headlight really dont work anymore just like in the thing i like to call (REAL LIFE)so i thing sony should get some tips from the maker of fonza in the auctally meaning to the world REAL SIM RACING

GT4 is the best!!! |
| Jason Roberts from Stanley, North Carolina, USA says (10/May/2005): |
GT4 Is with out a doubt the best racing game of all time. The graphics, & sounds are just amazing. The game was worth every penny. If you love racing games, then this is a MUST have game. I have waited a long time for this game, especially after completing 100% of GT3 2 years ago, and it was worth the wait. This is a game that I could never get tired of playing. The races on this game prove that you can drive a racecar because most of these races are very tough to accomplish, especially the mission races where you almost have to be perfect. As a matter of fact, I just completed 100% of GT4, after completing the last mission race #34 which is the toughest race I have ever done. Its very hard to drive around a 13 mile, 176 turn racetrack for 1 lap trying to catch a car thats 123 seconds in front of you, and you can not afford to make any mistakes or lose any seconds what so ever. It took me probably 30 attempts but finally got it, but I love a challenge, thats what makes this game so awesome, and I love the all black Formula GT racecar that you win but only if you complete 100%. The creaters of this game really put a lot of effort in this game and it shows. They make each and every race a challenge, and thats what makes the game #1. I hope sometime in the future they create GT5! I can hardly wait. But for now Ill just have fun racing around the awesome tracks of GT4!

Excellent |
| Mr cool from lees,oldham,england,europe,the world says (18/May/2005): |
the graphics on this game are the best ive ever seen but it can get really boreing. the cars are also impossable to steer because you go flying off the track when you turn. i have a dodge viper that has about 700 bhp because i put the best engine in and stuff like that and i have to brake about a mile away from the turn just so it dosent fly off the track. apart from that it is an ok game mainly because it has evry car you can think of loads of tracks and you can put nos in your car. i forgot im also having trouble on the clubman cup which is abit gay when my car has about 700 bhp

Lot's of questions |
| C Mason from Seattle, WA says (10/Jun/2005): |
After playing this game for over 12 hours, it is obvious that the programmers at Polyphony spent alot of time giving the graphics
a large boost from GT3, but the selection of performance parts
and the brands to choose from are clandistine. Anybody who is not even educated about racing cars can pick up Hot Rod magazine or Import-Tuner magazine and see within the first 10 pages that GT4 has very little to offer when it comes to tune up parts for the cars. The selection of cars is not that impressive. There are alot of cars that you will never use because they are useless little eurotrash cars with no horsepower. Where are the 57' Chevy's? Ferrari's? Lamborghini's? McClarren F-1's?
Why don't the cars sit lower to the ground when you upgrade the suspension and lower the car. Why do most of the cars sound like
a lawn-mower on crack? Why do all the wheels to choose from look like 14" rims and not 17 or 18?
Why is there no damage, exhaust detonation, suspension spark from the ground when hitting a dip in the road, rain or bad weather that usually takes place in europe?
This all may seem a bit much but to ask for, but it's to be expected from a game that claims to be "The Ultimate Driving Simulator" Maybe they should change it to "Another Underdeveloped Driving Simulator" Come on guys, I mean Need For Speed Underground? You can paint your damn brake calipers if you want,
and pick out your muffler, stickers, rims, etc, etc, and that game isn't even trying to claim to be a realistic simulator (although the drag strip part is very real looking!)
