it's an improvement... i think....37190

gildedknight from Los Angelas, USA says (22/Dec/2003):
Bloody Roar 4 has a lot of things that stop it from being a truly notable contender in it's genre.
Graphics- One of the first downfalls behind the game are the less than spectacular graphics. From the character design skins right down to the menu the game offers little in the way of shocking eye candy. That's not to say the game hasn't improved. Players from the previous installment will notice far smoother animation and detailed character models, as well as detailed BG, even if the ring itself is nothing more than suitable. The camera for the most part is well placed and allows you to see the battle at all times, however during some of the specials i noted that the camera was often focused where you couldn't see the [ahem] damage dealt to the less fortunate ringmate.
Sound- Probably the grandest letdown to this game is the DISMAL voice acting and choppy sound effects. The sound effects themselves are standard fare for anyone who's played a game in the series however the voice acting is unforgivable as is the out of sync characters voicing their cutscenes. the game offered little in the way of variety of sounds and the music is once again standard fare.
Storyline- This really should be labled as the lack thereof. The predecessor of this title had far more impressive interaction concerning character storylines and actual plot. the standard set of character do have 3 cutscenes each that supposedly makeup the storyline of this title. But, as mentioned before players will be horrified by the lackluster VA's, a dialogue that sounds like it's been written by a seven year old, and out of sync characters voicing said script.
Control- What this game does have is a reasonable control scheme that flows well and is easy to pick up. the button inputs are predictable enough to be used by any button jammer but anyone experienced will find ways to combo and stylize their play.
gameplay- The modes offered in the title include arcade, time attack, survival, combattle, sparring, and career. the scalable difficulty allows the game to be scaled to ones skill level though i found that even at the highest difficulty the AI was predictable and easily navigated around. as with any game in this genre this is probably best played with friends where you can really show off what you know. however, the career mode makes for a very attractive addition to prior titles. The ability to customize your favorite character should prove to be a very tempting draw to players.

Voice, dialog.35867

Mikal from Ohio, USA says (22/Nov/2003):
Would have recieved a perfect ten out of ten...but God! the voices are annoying (Alice)...and the dialog is cor-r-ny...I also can't get over the fact that the mouth movements of the characters don't match up with what the characters are saying...... ( Little tip for future producers of the game...please get rid of the corny dialog...) the game rated M for MATURE...not for 5 year olds...c-mon...lets hear some profanity like in Tekken 4... otherwis this is an awsome game carrer mode just blows a person away...it was kool in all. The sounds, graphics, gameplay, and value all all 100% satisfactory. For fans of the game, the fun factor is amazing i can't get enough of it...especially playing with Alice, or Nagi in career mode.It is definitely worth $43(tax included) buy it.

its just tooo classic37142

Ricky Leipzig from earth says (20/Dec/2003):
this is an awesome game, if u are a die-hard bloody roar fan... buy it. has all the decent characters from 3 but neded to bring back more old characters from the dead, e.g. fox from BR1 or maybe even Mitsuko she ruled. But even so the new characters are amazing, the ryoho dude with the little girl kinda sucks but the crow and the spurrious are amazing.

p.s. does anybody know if u can still duck? (not crouch) like it used to be R1+double down but i cant get it to work
