A sweet game for Yu Yu Hakusho fans in the U.S. | | Krystale Hoffman from Maryland, USA says (1/Oct/2004): | Based on the manga/anime by Yoshihiro Togashi, Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament is the 2nd game available in the U.S. from the series. The first being a poorly translated RPG for a certain handheld system. It's about time fans got a game worth playing. Most will notice it's DBZ: Budokai feel, especialy in the way the characters look. But this game has enough to make it stand out.
The best feature of the game is the cut scenes. They are taken right from the anime series, in DVD quality, following the entire Dark Tournament Saga. Other cool stuff encludes; a token mini-game with unlockable tokens, unlockable alternate charcter costumes, series loyal fighting styles and moves, music/SFX based on those from the show, and most importantly the charcters are voiced by the actual US anime vocal actors. Something true fans of the series will love.
There are several different ways to play such as: arcade, survival, skirmish, tag team, training, and two story modes with up to 31 levels. In terms of variety there are over 25 charcters to choose from, including all charcters who appeared in the Dark Tournament Saga of the show. Each with their own unique combo's, attacks, and special Spirit moves.
If you love Yu Yu Hakusho, then you will cherish this game with all your heart. If you've never even heard of the series, you will be introduced to it gradualy at a pace you can keep up with. Before long you'll be a fan as well. In fact I recomend this game to anyone who is interested in getting to know the series.
Bottom line: Fan or no fan this 1-2 player fighter deserves a play. Addictive, and extremly re-playable, this game will be one of your favorties for a long time.
| This game gives the series a not very good name!!! | | Some random Dude from Denver Usa says (30/Sep/2004): | Yu Yu hakusho is one of my favorite shows, but here, they screwed it up. The fighting is the main problem and Not very good controlls only ad to the problem. The game is hard in Arcade and dark tournament. I had to fight Roto with Kruama Five times to beat Him!!!!!!! Kruma just sucks in this game. This game has good graphics and sound and a good summary odf the dark tournament but the fights are tooo hard even on easy. U need to almost use cheats to get everysingle charrecter.
