Not What You'd Expect From a Fans Point Of View Or a Newbies | | Chris Martin says (28/Aug/2004): | Resident Evil Outbreak.
its a big step up from RE 2 and 3. The graphics a 3d rendered and it looks beatiful. The 3d person camera views are a big improvement from the last Resident Evil games but maybe a zoom cam would be something the game could use. The games variety of options is ten times bigger then the other games. For instance in RE 2 you had set weapons you could use like a hand gun or a grenade launcher. in this you can use anything from a nail gun to an iron pipe. I do own the game and at one point i was using a broom and a scrub brush to whack zombies with. It's really fun. The music still has that nice "crap ur pants" theme that RE is famous for. The game play is a big step up aswell, u can run around, swim , kick, jump, punch and do actions RE has never let you do before. In the other ones you were practicly nailed to the ground, Outbreak brings some life to what a person would really do in situations like that. I dont know about you but I would punch a zombiee if I didnt have a weapon, instead of just standing there like the other games forced you to.
There are some drawbacks to the game thought. It isnt a progressive story. somethings just happen that dont make sence. You shoot from scenario to scenario, one minute you in a bar, the next you in an underground lab with no prelude story of how it is u got there. that was a little turn off. You dont get to pick form series characters, there are totally new characters. that isnt so much a draw back because the new characters are all really cool.
Online play is set back with capcoms desion to disable the mics. Bad money loosing choice for them. the mics are awesome and more people would like the game if they could talk freely online instead of having set commentary...
Over all the game is awesome. It makes capcom look really good.
*Graphics I give it a 9.5 because sometimes u wish u could see things closer and you dont have that option.
*Sound a 9, nice tracks.
*Story line a 6.5, Gameplay must a constant story line, if not a linear one at least a non linear story line that makes sence
*Replayablity 10, Great replayability, with 4 diffculty modes and prizes you have to buy in the game from points you earned by playing it makes it very diverse and fun. You can buy new costumes, movie scenes , pics and specials.
*Gameplay 8.5, runs smooth, but it aint socom.
*Fun Factor
Resident evil fan: 9.5, youll love it
Joe Shmoe: 7 god game depending on yur gameplay tastes.
Value 45$ cause thats what I bought it for, and its worth it until someting better comes out.
Over all I give the game an 8.9 Because its a great game, capcom just screwd up a little bit on the progressive story line and the online chat system.
I think if you were thinking about buying it GO FOR IT!!!
If ur not a resident evil fan, try the other games first like RE 2 and 3 so when u play Outbreak u can really apperciate what capcom did on the fine piece of work.
Definitly an awesome game

| this game sucks!!!!!!!!!! | | Brad from Ft Collins says (26/Jul/2004): | resident evil outbreak really suks, thats my opinion. i mean they should'nt have even came out with the game. onlie is by far the worst. it would be a hell of alot better if you could choose yer own map, instead of having to beat the game on regular play, than having to beat it on online. the graphics could be a little bit better. i would no reccomend this game to anyone. this game was just a waste of $50.00 at wal-mart, it should've been one of those $20.00 games, but i still wouldn't have bought it, the only way i would've gotten it if it was free., thats probably about how much it's all worth. i hope that the next resident evil that comes out will be better, and you will have more freedom to play. it would also make the game better for online if you could chat to people with a mic, but like i said, maybe the next game they come out with will be better. from a rating of 1-10, i would probably give this game a 4, just because you can't do much, until you've beat the game.
| ***This One Tops All**** | | Mr. Zombie from Racoon City says (13/Apr/2004): | I personally, don't own this game but I know a lot about Resident Evil. This basically has the events from Resident evil 1 through 3 so that means that "Outbreak" is an out of control zombie killing action. With all your favorite characters from the series as you can select your favorite character to be a successful gamer. This time you have the national guard as your help but despite that more than likely they will all vanish from the zombie flesh eaters! Also, this game may be questionable so you may wanna consider to rent before you buy it! -One last note it's online compatib;e for the first time ever which is also something to consider. But like any online enabled game you can go either way with this one! Take it from me and use your best judgement.
| Nice Game, But Still, It Could Have Been better! | | Richard from Bristol R.I. says (13/Jan/2005): | I found this title to be interesting. You have a large amount ofcharacters to choose from, and the suspense factor is high, but it plays like a RPG. That kind of hurts it mortally. I prefer the old system of one or two characters. Too much to keep track
of can kill a game. the new feeling it gives is nice despite the glaring flaws it maintains. I did enjoy it, but the controls were very jerky and it made jumping difficult. The creepiest part of this game was your character is T-Virus positive, and ready to die and become a zombie! That gave the title eight stars out of ten! If they iron out the weak points, this title could be the next big thing in the Resident evil universe!
