Full of holes | | Toby Marshall from Lillingstone Dayrell says (24/Sep/2005): | My advice is that if you are not a die hard worms fan, or maybe a purist 2D player, this isn't for you. The camera can be annoyingly unhelpful, allowing you to fall down a nice little hole that you couldn't see and allowing you little visibilty in 'blimp mode', making air strikes more of a gamble than they ought to be. The game has lost quite a lot of its pick-up-and-playability, meaning that if you've got willing casual gamers round who don't know the controls, it'll probably take more time than the novelty of playing a worm with a bazooka can withstand for them to learn the controls and interest is usually lost. If you're looking to play online against people who do know how to play then you're out of luck there as well as the PS2 version lacks online capability.
Of course, there are some positive things to be said. Great fun can still be had if you have friends who know how to play, and single player mode isn't all bad. I think that once the glitches and faults have been addressed the next installment in the series might be a much tighter, polished, and whats more, a more worthy Worms title.
