STRICTLY FOR THE HARDCORES: everyone else should read the comic book. |
| A gamer from toronto canada says (4/Sep/2004): |
i have been a HUGE fan of street fighter for at least 15 yrs, and i could barely contain myself when i heard that this game was going to be released... and then i went out and bought this piece of garbage.
maybe it's just me, but this game is just plain stupid. anyone old enough to actually remember this/these games probably has a full-time job and possibly family, and there is no way i want to spend my off time restraining myself from smashing this disc in two.
let me explain:
i am no slouch when it comes to playing street fighter. i know how to play the $#< remove me > at !. however, the difficulty on these games is INSANE! i can barely make it through third strike without having to smear my score with single digits at the end (continues) on the EASIEST LEVEL. not to mention this ridiculous hyper street fighter 2 nonsense. good luck beating the first opponent on the easiest level. it seems like they cranked the damage and there is no way to turn it down to an acceptable level so most fights are over in less than 5 hits.
again, maybe its just me, but i have a hard time believing that this game was intended for "fun". although it might be fun if your name is takayoshi and you earn a living playing video games. whatever.
the only good thing about this disc in my opinion is that it might be fun to play in vs. mode. but again, anyone who was actually into this when it was actually happening is probably too busy living to get together and play street fighter. this game is a total waste of time. sf alpha 3 is truly the pinnacle of this series, but they never thought to include it for some absolutely retarded reason. in fact, its probably more fun to watch the demos than to actually play the games!

I loved it... |
| Yun from Ca, USA says (26/Jul/2005): |
Personally, this is one of my most favorite games... i mean ever. Ive had Street Fighter since i was a kid, to now that im a lousy teenager =P On sega genesis, and snes. I kinda dropped it for a while, but my friend recently got me hooked on it once again. That guy... i mean, not the BEST, but he's still very good. He enters tournaments, and won a few. Well, after playing him over these past few months, i beat him about 1/10 tries. Haha. Not TOO much improvement, but he beats SF3 without losing on hardest, while i can only beat it with 3-5 continues.
I understand everyone's frustration with SF2 on this pack, its EXTREMELY hard. DeeJay is mega cheap. I beat everyone until i get to that foo, then he beat me so quickly. I probly hafta fight him 20 times if i wanted to beat him, but i dont have that patience. So i just stick with SF3 most of the time.
I got used to the parrying system. The trick is to see openings, and try not to button mash, it probly wont get you anywhere. Learn combos. Now i play any other street fighter i forget i cant parry... hehe and get socked in the face. But thats ok, ill remember sooner or later.
If you guys want to see crazy parrying and combos, look up Umehara Daigo. #1 in japan.

I expected more to the game ,but it is a fun game at a good value |
| John from NJ says (23/Sep/2004): |
Steet fighter 2 was my favorite game growing up. This game put together all of the versions of street fighter 2. The characters for each version are not much different from each other. The character might have one sightly different move and does not really matter while playing different versions. I expected a lot more characters not slightly different versions of characters. The game play is much harder also but that is what makes it fun, the challege. I used to play the original street fighter on the hardest level and beat the game without losing a match with no problem. Now I get a whippin on easy/medium. THe street fighter the 3 game is a nice addition the the collection. IT has a few classic street fighter characters and other interesting characters. THe graphics and game play are not impressive by todays standards, but a street fight fan will appreciate the game. Todays games are soooo loong
it will take weeks to beat. Street fighter the aniversary is great to play if I want to kill an hour battling it out. On the game you also get street fighter 2 the animated movieon the disc. All and all I think it is worth it to get the game.

True fans will love it |
| Goken from baltimore,maryland,usa says (16/Sep/2004): |
The difficulty level of the game is cranked up a bit, but if you are a true fan and any good at street fighter at all you will learn to deal with the difficulty levels of the game. I just left the difficulty on medium thats what I've been playing it on since it was released, but now that I heard you get cool stuff for beating it on a more difficult level i will try to do so as soon as i get a chance. This game is only for hard core street fight game players. I have played street fight since I was little i'm 23 now and every time i get some spare time i work at it. I don't have a family of my own so I can do that i guess. :-)

You never get the hang of this game. |
| Lucius from New York City, USA says (14/Sep/2004): |
I have always played the street fighter games. I have always liked them. But i have never been good at them. I bought this game because I like Street fighter and because it was a very good deal for a brand new game. I took it home and began to play. First I played Street Fighter 2. I chose ChunLi ( my all time favorite character). I was fighting Dee-jay (the Jamaican boxer. I started kicking and before i had landed a kick on him i had less than half my health. Then I landed a couple kicks on him and then I was dead. To make a long story short this is not an easy game but it is worth the cursing, crying, frustration and pain.

difficult difficult difficult |
| j from chicago says (19/Sep/2004): |
I agree with anyone that says this game is WAAAY too hard. I've been playing SF for almost ten years, and I have never experienced AI as good or as cheap as in hyper fighting. Dee Jay is now the hardest character in the game. Let me give you an example. He throughs fireballs like they were jabs. One after the other, FIERCE fireballs, and you're supposed to have to charge these, I guess the CPU doesn't. One match, he crossed me up, and did a rapid punch on me.....OVER. The match lasted exactly three seconds. It was the fastest round I've ever played in SF. Ridiculous. This game is terrible, stick to SFIII

It's a pretty good addition to the SF collection |
| Tigga from Toronto, Canada says (11/Sep/2004): |
It's actually a pretty good game. It's not extremely difficuly as the reviewer says. I passed in on the hardest level, and there are a few cool things, like using the final boss as a playable character, and a bunch of secret options.
What's also cool is in SF2 you can select any character from the entire SF2 series. For example, the very first Guile vs. Guile from the Hyper fighting version. It's challenging, but for SF enthusiasts like me, it's a great game to have.
