The best so far but still cant give it a 10!!! | | REGEN from San Jose, CA. says (3/Jan/2005): | Well like everyone says this is by far the best dragonballz game to date. True fans of he anime like myself will definitely be satisfied with the money spent for this awesome title but unfortunately, yes ofcourse theres always a but, theres still some things that might frustrate you or even work your nerves a quite a bit. For example the best thing ive found about this game so far is the fact that you can do just about anything in the game that youve seen in the show but for some odd reason YOU STILL DO NOT HAVE FREE FLIGHT!!! HELLLLLOOOO I mean come on you would think they would've added that by now. Having to double dash backwards and push up IS NOT FREE FLIGHT like ive heard many people say. Can you fly up or down or even over your opponents head to the rear of them, no you cant. I believe the ability to do so wouldve brought a whole new fighting experience to the game. Another thing is that when you first start playing the dragonrushes look pretty cool but after a while of seeing it over and over it gets to the point where your like ok come on get this move over with and lets get back to fighting, especially since the character does the same three moves every dragonrush. Instead of just trying to guess what button your opponent would push next they shouldve made each button do a different move giving you more control during the rush, and addin more flexibilty to the overall move. And when your playing the computer on the harder levels the computer constantly stays in dragonrush mode so in order for your attacks to connect you have to do either do the same or just dodge and block till the computer runs out of energy, which can be pretty difficult in the harder levels. Im sorry even though I hate to bash something I love so dearly I have to call it like i see it (or play it), the story mode sucks!!! I mean PLEEAAASE people this is playstation2, surely they couldve done more than just those stiff cardboard looking pics with with the voices and sound fx in the background. I mean there mouths didnt even move. Unless youve already seen the entire series your stuck constantly torturing yourself listening to the sound fx trying to visualize what was currently happening. Not only that but im sure im not the only one who wouldve liked to play the story mode with more than just the few characters they allowed. But then on the other hand the ability to have ACTUALL FREE FLIGHT and go to different places and find things and even use the famous dragon radar was pretty cool. If the arenas that you actually do the fighting in were designed like the worlds in the story mode with the way you could fly anywhere and face in any direction I believe the rating for this game could possibly go through the roof!!! And last but not least when your editing skills the potara earrings take up the ALL slots. So if you use them for Goku or Vegeta unless you use them right away to transform youll have absolutley no moves. But please dont let my point of view discourage you from buying the game its still a great game. Like I said before you can do just about anything they can in the show. The new arenas are great along with a new soundtrack thats awesome my fav is the music in the supreme kais world and the city area. The new cell animation graphics are very good with new and better combos including the old ones. All of the characters have been added. Even though im still trying to figure what the hell is that big bubble thing Frieza creates everytime he transforms??? You can now use trunks sword and also Daburas which is lightning fast. And their cutaway scenes where someone is knocked far into the distance is alot better. Hopefully with the next DragonballZ title we'll see even more improvements. Good job Atari!!! :)

SSJ4 Goku, Gogeta SSJ4,Gogeta SSJ2, Omega Shenron, Broly : First when Gohan is absorbed by Super Buu go into the desert area by ur next dot and search for a place called mountains OR use your chi search to find him but don't mix it up with ur next dot, Supreme kai will show up if u get to mountains he will say I sense a greater power then Buu's on Earth Goku won't since it he will say I hope its my imagination. Proceed to the next dot beat Super Buu with Vegito and inside his body, then when you get out Vegeta and Goku will since the chi, then when ur next dot appears go to the south east corner of the map by the world tournament around those islands keep searching, Goku will complain about his head thumping and will be yelling about about to go insane and screaming and saying Goten! Chi Chi! AHHH then he will go SSJ4 you unlock that THEN go fight Broly as he is the dot and he is very hard without SSJ4, beat him and unlock him. Then when you get that note from the mystery warrior go to Bulma in West City *If you haven't gotten SSJ4 yet you must in order for this to work* and she will say the dragon radar aint working, she will give it to you. Then go to the world tournament, it may transport you there, I forget, then beat Gotenks, then go to the next dot after this and Omega Shenron will show up, you will fuse and make Gogeta, he is very easy to beat with Gogeta, a few big bang kamehamehas in the air + kicking hin through the air will kill him in under fifteen seconds, beat him and u unlock ssj4 Gogeta, it will say that Goku remembered Omega's last words then before it ends you will get Omega Shenron.
Cooler : First, you must beat Vegeta's DU. Then on Goku's DU second time through AFTER you fight Frieza on the island go to the dot under where he was, you will see SSJ Vegeta, beat him, Vegeta had killed Frieza but Goku sensed a chi, fly to the red dot on the top of the map, Beat Cooler and unlock him.
Saibamen & Cell Jrs : Beat the dragon universe will all the characters, Goku, Tien, Vegeta, Yamcha, Uub, Broly, Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan, Gohan, Piccolo and Krillin, then unlock Dragon arena, await for Nappa/Piccolo to break in, beat them to get them.
Uub : Beat Kid Buu with the super spirit bomb with Goku, you must have Kaioken - Super Saiyan 2 equipped on you, then when Kid Buu is in low health make sure you are in Kaioken/Normal, just dragonrush and fail if ur in SSJ/SSJ2 then power up and go kaioken (Optional) then, when Kid Buu uses his dragon rush *Optional yet helpful* avoid him at all costs then when he is tired QUICKLY go dragonrush and use Super Spirit Bomb, you must win the power struggle and beat Kid Buu with it and you will have a extended part of the storyline and you will unlock Uub.

I baught it I have unlocked all characters exept the saibamen, There are super saiyan 4's Cooler and Broly!!! A legendary Super saiyan, Frieza's Brother, Super saiyan 4's, guys from gt, bardock, many new features, you get to fly around the map instead of in budokai 2 just using little pegs to run or in budokai 1 where it automatically brings you somewhere, even GT fusions such as Gogeta super saiyan 4 Omega Shenron and many more awesome kick A$$ characters, I like this game a lot I was suprised when Broly was in the game I was so happy he is my favorite character plus I PWN with him,, the only flaw I saw in the game was they called Frieza Freiza at one point I just said so... which spelling is it? For anyone who voted 1 is probabley someone who can't beat it, this game can be challenging and I love challenges I had a TOUGH time unlocking Broly and Cooler and forever to unlock Uub and without Uub I cannot get to, this game is so awesome, It has had top flight reviews like from game spot 8.96 and thats a pro's rating this game has awesome new moves more super saiya-jin's better storyline and kick A$$ graphics and moves, like kicking someone through the air and teleporting dragon rush mode the new defense system, many new characters, I can't think of any way this game can be any more perfect, it is what any DBZ collector could want.
Graphics : 10/10 A little better then Budokai 2 I can see they worked very hard to make this game.
Sound Effects : 10/10 They add some cool music and many explosions and even kick sounds and yells.
Story Mode : 10/10 Well you can gather dragonballs get wishes and control yourself and alternate red blips to go to.
Challenging : 10/10 can get annoying at times but I love challenges...
Characters : 10/10 MANY characters that include Cooler and Broly,
Overall : 10+/10 Best game I have bought in the last 5 years.

Bad things:
This game doesn't have really sny bad features rather than dragon rush personally i think it is pretty cool but it does get annoying when the computer goes to hypermode and keeps using dragonrush

| DRAGONBALL Z IS DA BEST | | damian from GL,bolton,uk says (18/Feb/2005): | i have had budokai 3 4 about 4 month now n i ave got all the characters including kid goku saibamen and cell juniors. ss4 goku is the best his 10 x kamehamaha is brill and ss4 vegetas final shine is just a quicker version of his final flash wich may i add is a great move aswell. i fink brolly is to slow but his moves are awesome wen he turns into the legendary super saiyan. goten is the best fighter 4 me in terms of quickness bcause i am the ultimate warrior who shows no mercy to anyone i destroyed omega shenron in about 15 secs and still had all bars of life left. the graphics are the best ever and i have heard that there making a new budokai game 4 ps2. ss4 gogeta needs more moves if he is going to be a gd fighter but his moves are the bomb, 100 x bigbangkamehameha is the best move in the game by far. to get uub u have to beat kid buu with a spirit bomb on gokus du and ther is a continuation and from there evrythin starts like gettin the ss4 capsule 4 goku in the south east on the small islands then on the 2nd time through after u c gohan being absorbed by buu sense for power and u shud find hercule rite near there then go to the dot but dont go on it then go sw ov the dot n u shud find tien unconscious then search near there for mountains then talk to supreme kai and fight the fusion fight with super buu then wen going to fight kid buu vegeta tells u he will hold buu off while u investigate the power (brolly) then defeat him and u will get his capsule after u beat him goku finds a note asking him to have a fusion fight at the world tournament after u win that omega shenron appears at central city and u fight him as ss4 gogeta any1 else who needs info on how to get characters rite a review n i will answer ur question.
| Game is great, but the story telling could be better. | | Kyle from Norman, OK says (30/Jan/2005): | Okay, so I have seen all of the Dragonball episodes and I know what happens. However, the way the game tells it I am left wondering if what I saw on the episodes matches up with the game. Oh yeah, what is with not having Bebi, Vegeta-Bebi, or Super 17. I mean that was a huge part of Dragonball GT. It would also be cool if you could go through the DBGT storyline and fight all of the evil Dragons, not just have a showdown with Omega Shenron randomly as Goku and vegeta learn how to go ssj4 and fuse. Also, the annoying thing about this game is the fact that in very hard mode, the computer can start a death move and you can move to counter and out of nowhere the com will teleport behind you and completely blindside you.
I think the graphics are great in the fighting parts, but the way you can fly right over a red dot or sparkle on the ground and it won't register is kind of annoying. The sound is good and does not get boring. As for the gameplay, the combo system can be very complicated. The most I have ever gotten in a combo is about 20 hits with Goku (not using Dragon Rush).
Overall, this is a major step in the right direction at allowing more people to get involved in Dragonball Z that have no idea about the anime. Improvements could be made in the length of Goku's storyline and I thought it was weird how adult Gohan did not fight Broly like in the movie. Oh yeah, it would be cool to play as teen Trunks and go through the story of him receiving his sword. Anyway, great game, but needs more story after the Buu Saga (b/c there is a whole other series that deals with Goku and Pan. Some people might disagree, but after the first 10 episodes of DBGT, GT is way better than DBZ ever was).

| Best DBZ Game Yet!!! | | A gamer from New Jersey says (17/Jan/2005): | This game was just great, i played it the first day and was not really into it, but then I played again and it got kind of addictive. I beat the game in about a weak. It is hard as hell to beat though. There are the easy characters to unlock like teen gohan, gohan, dabura, vegeta, friza, and all of the buu's. Then there are harder people like cooler, hercule, uub, and omega shenron. The graphics are totally kick ass. Even if you are not a dbz fan i think you would like this game. I mean, you go into dragon ball GT alsoand get ss4 goku, ss4 vegeta, and ss4 gogeta. You also get Omega Shenron. I really have only had the game for seven days and i think that supreme kai was the hardest person to unlock only because i didnt know how to get him until like the third time i beat the game with gohan. People say broly is the best but i dont think so, he needs better moves, but anyway the game is just totally awesome no other games that have just recently came out can even touch this game maybe exept for mercenaries because i like blowing the living crap out of things and blowing the living crap out of things some more, this is the most funnest game of last year probably and i give it a 10 out of 10 just because its fun, its tough, its confusing, and you beat the crap out of peopl:}G-UNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is off the hook people,i played it for 15 hours straight when i first bought it i couldn't get enough. The dragon rushes and the Ultimate attacks are really kool espicially SSJ4 Gogeta's Big Bang 100X Kamehameha where he kicks you in the air laughs and rushes at the opponent, the opponent then blocks only to realize gogeta is behind him saying"I'm here" then the opponent lets go like 15 punches and kicks at gogeta but none does damage gogeta laughs again and cuffs him just like on the movie GT and then he goes in the air and reasons:
Big Bannnnnnnnnnggggggggg KA ME Ha Me HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! and blows u and a chunk fo the earth off the map, where that stage becomes destroyed. Its cool not to mention when u do a dragon rush for e.g with Goku if u successfully perform his dragonrush he does a warp kamehameha where he licks u down to teh ground and you let go a blast then he says kame(then diaapears next to you and finishes the move right in your face) [lol he must think u needed a close up]. Did i mention there are over 40 characters including Goku's dad Bardok, Broly, Metal Cooler, Mecha Freever, SSJ4 Goku and SSJ4 Vegeta. This game is definitely good. All i'm waiting for now is Naruto for ps2.

Atari has done a fine job but maybe the next dbz game will be even better try this game u will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! The graphics and sounplay in this game kicks why because the voice matches the character and the grapics matches dbz. Fun Factor i would give it a 10 out of 10, graphics 8 out of 10 length of game 9 out of 10 overall average i would say a 9 out of 10 but still this game is the greatest that why i have all 3 budokais

It is much better than the last one. You can actually see damage to the arena, and the parts where you can blow up Earth is very cool.
To get Uub you need to go through Dragon Universe with Goku. When you fight Kid Buu make sure that youu set the Spirit Bomb tecnique. Obviously you need to use this move. THIS ONLY WORKS IF YOU WIN THE ATTACK!! Once you win the attack finish the battle. Then, after you complete the saga, you will see Goku floating above the clouds next to the gold colored box. After the story is finished a gray capsule willexplode and it will contain Uub.
After completing the short story mode with Uub( and the stories of EVERYONE else), right before the credits, another capsule will explode and it will contain Dragon Arena. Here you can fight EVERY character in the ENTIRE game( even Omega Shenron and Broli)!!! Broli is huge, I mean HUGE! When fighting him shift a lot and attack quickly.
P.S. Omega Shenron is at level 59 and Broli is at level 60. Try to survive, and good luck!!!!!! :)

What Dragon Ball Z game let's you do that? Also I saw that when the two opponents do a ki blast wave it will let you battle it out. Take goku and Vegeta for an example if goku does a Kamehameha and Vegeta does a Galick Gun attack you can battle it with a strong force of rotation. I thought budokai 1 was fantastic when it came out, but budokai 3 blows it away with fantastic graphics and awesome energy attacks. It has the widest range of characters then any other dbz game to date. I have gotten all of the characters besides saibaman and cell junior, but hey who want those little creeps anyway. This game not only has characters from dbz but also 2 characters from dbgt.(gogeta and omega shenron). If you can only play one game this year this is the game I would choose to play. I am not usually into fighting games, but when it comes to a game like this anyone would love it especially dragonball z fans. IT should of won 2004 best game of the year it was so good. I loved so much. it has a amazing fighting system that would just blew me away. Of course that is just what I think you may not even like the game it all stands upon opinion, but going with my opinion this is one of the best games ever. | simply the best, so far. | | Chaz from America says (29/Apr/2005): | budakai 3 is much better grahic wise than both 1 and 2. much more fun, gameplay is diffinitely better, could be more orginally, ex. different combos than 1 and 2, combos were pretty much the same. sound wise could have better music. so much more fun than any dbz game i have played, and worth every penny. i think its too hard to get all the skills cause i only have like 70%, but i the best at this game, no one can beat me, all challenges accepted, ill wooped u. if anyone knows how to get finishing moves for omega shenron, cooler, bardock, cell and freiza, holla. i did hear about a new dbz game and its going to have to been all out the beat this one. if u dont have it get it even if your're not a dbz fan its the best. some tips, to get omega find and speak to bulma before fighting gotenks. after that u can get ss4 goku by flying to some small island southeast on the map, with goku(of course). ss4 vegeta speak to bulma before fighting ss4 goku. if anyone knows how to get everyones breakthough email me. bukadai 3 is the !

Jam-packed with over 40 characters from DBZ, DBZ movies, and even DBGT, and even flying ALL OF THE TIME. The DBGT Characters: S.S.4 Goku, S.S.4 Vegeta, if you have those two, you will need the fusion version of those two in fusion form in S.S.4., right, well, you got it! S.S.4 Gogeta is here, with his kick-ass move, 100% Big Bang KaMeHaMeHa! S.S.4 Goku was said to be a seperate character, said on MANY DBZ websites...LIE!!!!!!!!!!! S.S.4 Goku is SO not a seperate character! you can become him in regular form, S.S., S.S.2, S.S.3, and go straight to the unbeliveable strength of S.S.4!!! The other fusion characters are Gotenks, and S.S.2 Gogeta, from DBZ Movie 12. Bascially, you got every fusion from DBZ-DBGT That acually FIGHTS! (Kibitokai not avalable) But, you CAN, somehow, get the Supreme Kai. I never got him, though. The fighting is awsome! when it says "Recreates the lightning speed of DBZ" on the Budokai 3 box, they ain't lying! GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!
